My brain keeps going from one random song to another to another...and it's like it keeps getting caught on things. Does this happen to anyone?

I happen to love music, but this is not fun.

Cymbalta, 60mg -- for the depression.
Latuda, 40mg -- for the paranoia (delusional type).
Adderall, 40mg XR & 5 mg reg -- for the ADD.
Xanax, .5 mg as needed -- for the anxiety.
Topamax, 50mg -- still figuring this one out.

MDD, but possibly have some form of Bipolar Disorder. Then again, I could be paranoid . . .

Well, at least I still have my sense of humor.

I too have a constant sound track going on in my head...it starts right when I wake up in the morning...a song gets stuck in my head and it's enough to drive me even crazier. I've decided to put the song in my head into iTunes and have "genius" make me a playlist on my iPod...then I have a actual playlist to distract my mind for a while.

Same. I get bits of one song where the last word of what's going becomes the word of the next, but not always connected. Sometimes just blasted at the same time, and the songs or blibs of poetry aren't always things I've heard before. Just a random grab bag of stuff.

Thanks all for sharing and for your input!

Listening to music does seem to be the cure for this...speaking of The Cure...

Most often I'll get just one song over and over. My brain seems very bouncy today in general, it's just going.

My constant playlist is so bad that my daughter has diagnosed me with CSD-chronic singing disorder! A disease of her own creation that she is sure I have the most severe case of. To make matters worse, it's almost always the same song with my own lyrics mixed in.

Lol That's cute!

I always feel like I could turn almost anything into a musical with all the songs I know!

It's called racing thoughts.

I don't listen to Jazz... but I "think" about jazz all the time...

This happens to me too. I have to pay attention to how loud it sounds in my mind. But a lot of times I've noticed that I can gauge how I feel about a situation depending on the song that's playing in my mind.

It switches up when I'm uncomfortable so in that way it's actually a great benefit!! But yeah sometimes it plays to loud and too repetitive and I have to listen to actual music to relieve the situation.

Yes, sometimes I can hear every single note incredibly clear, like it's actually playing (but it's not an auditory hallucination, I just hear it that way in my head).

Yeah, it's not an auditory hallucionation.

What Are Racing Thoughts ? - Bipolar Disorder Symptoms

"Before knowing anything about bipolar disorder, I called this sensation "racy brain." Thoughts and music would be zooming through my head so fast that sometimes I wanted to scream. If it was going on at bedtime, it could take me an hour or more of concentrating on word games to get myself to sleep.

Components of racing thoughts can include music, snatches of conversation from movies or television or books, one's own voice or other voices repeating a phrase or sentences again and again, or even rhythms of pressure without any "sound" in the thought."

Thank you for this!

Sometimes I'll wind up just trying to count as much as I can, and focus on the numbers, when I can't get things out of my head at bedtime.

I have bipolar disorder and find this happening during the height of my mania, don't worry, some sleep or mindful breathing should help. I know its not fun.
