Ok here's my short story I was on Seroquel for a long time but came off it last March because it caused me to be pre-diabetic and high triglycerides. I instantly went into a mixed episode. We ended up trying Saphris (allergic to it), lithium ( allergic to it), Haldol (loved it, but was only for temporary use and pushed me into a depression), and then latuda (nightmare, it didn't metabolize right). So I had to go back on Seroquel, I'm on 400 mg. I always seem to swing on the high side and I only sleep 2-3 hours without it. I'm also allergic to abilify, Zoloft, and zyprexa. I've been on a few other APs but I can't remember what and why I came off of them. Oh and I'm also on 400 mg of lamictal. My pdoc thinks I'm allergic to an inactive ingredient. Is there any other med (AP or something else) out there that is strong enough for sleep, and then if it wasn't an AP add an AP that I'm not allergic to. I have to be on a mood stabilizer and an AP. I'm sick of this whole weight thing, but I need the sleep and stability. Yeah when I came off the Seroquel last March I dropped 30 lbs instantly and I eat like a rabbit.

Saphris definitely knocked me out, and it worked well for my symptoms. But people tend to either really love or really hate saphris.

Invega? It worked for me a long while back , Weight neutral. No side effects, I did notice my mouth was no longer so dry , so that's always a plus since most medications psych or not cause dry mouth

Nozinan - it's an old one, and probably not what you'd want at an antipsychotic dose. But it will make you sleep. I've never taken it, but I've heard it called "black death," so can't totally vouch for it. But people do like it for sleep.

Does Invega help you sleep at all? I need something strong. I sometimes have to take a few benadryl on top of the seroquel. I have OCD as well so my mind never stops. I'm starting therapy again this next Friday to gain some coping skills for this.

I have lifelong Insomnia, Im thrilled if I get 4 hours a night and if I get that I can function okay.

Other people have told me Invega was very sedating for them.

The only thing that actually gave 6-8 hours of sleep a nite was Halcion.. Its a strong Benzo but my Pdoc knew at the time I had to sleep or I was going to wind up IP and psychotic to the gills... I only take it every once in a while, but I have a life full of managing on 4 or so hours a nite.. If I go more than 4 days with no sleep I do use the Halcion for a couple days.

I bought some months ago but never tried it. My sister tried it and she said it worked for a few days and then didn't work anymore. I've been having trouble this past week and been using Benadryl. I'm going to try the Melatonin instead tonight and see how it goes.
