I'm not very keen on tracking my moods, but I have noticed, that I have a terrible migraine-like attack at the end of mixed episode or manic episode. It could be also related to hormonal things as some of my episodes co-occur with PMS. Is anybody else having these and if yes, how do you treat them? Also my neurologist was very surprised that I do continue to have those headaches even though I take depacote.

Headaches were what took me back to Pdoc. At the end of my manic episode, I would have terrible constant headaches that I attributed to the lack of sleep. It's definitely possible.

And speaking of Depakote... That is what I am taking and they seemed to get worse, but again it was lack of sleep (for me anyway). I actually got some sleep last night and actually feel ok today.

Are you sleeping?

Then again - I'm waking up 2-3 times at night because my kids wake me up, but in general I sleep 8 + hours per night.

I left a message with my Pdoc about it. I want something that will help me sleep, but doesn't "knock me out" where I miss the phone if there is an emergency, etc at work. It's not the "getting woken up" that would bother me, but the "just waking up" lol.

It is an interesting to think about. Maybe I'll ask my Pdoc when she calls me back about the sleep.

I wonder if its we are running full bore in a Manic Episode that causes it?

It may be something with the unbalance of neurotransmitters in the brain while being manic. I too get headaches when I don't sleep much, but there may be more to it than that.

He lacerta

By rule of thumb I am somewhat prone to headaches in general especially under stress.

But yes this can appear worse during certain episodes.

Although I have noticed a difference with one of the meds I'm on - it decreases the frequency. Not sure if that's a "positive side effect" of the med but I'll happily take it.

Thanks for posting.
