I decided to delete my Facebook because it caused me to be depressed a lot. This decision will greatly make me feel a lot better because I'm not seeing a lot of my triggers.

((((butterflypower))))

I believe it is important for us to manage self care and make necessary adjustments in order to look after our own mental health.

I am glad that you are aware of your triggers.

Look after yourself and hang in there.

Great choice! I made the choice to excessively limit my time on it for that same reason. Facebook really can be very triggering. And in my case it caused me to compare myself to others and I decided I didn't need that anymore when it was time to figure out how to love my own self and be happy with my own life instead of everyone else's.

If you find yourself wanting to go back on and know it isn't good for you (I am assuming it's still in the 2 weeks deactivated stage) you could ask someone you trust to change your password and not give it to you for a certain amount of time.

If you need any help or just want to chat, pm me! I am a successful former addict of Facebook who long ago thought life wasn't possible without Facebook.

At the begining of this current period of stability in 2012, I got off of facebook completely.

It is too stimulating for me.

Best of luck,

Thank you! That's is exactly how it makes me feel. I find myself comparing myself to others.

I get too involved in other people's comments. I argue too much and may be insensitive. I am blunt and without a filter.

I know a lot of people who have chosen to leave Facebook for the same reasons. I think it is what you need to do to prevent yourself from being triggered. So far, my Facebook page has only had positive influence on me, but I realize it can only take one post to throw things and my mood out the door. I'm glad you found your answer.

(((butterflypower))) Deleting my Facebook was one of the best things I did for my mental health. There are other ways to stay in touch with people you love, and people who love you will use those methods. Good luck!

I am NOT a Facebook fan to begin with; but a while back I got on it to do some bartering. Discovered very quickly that it was not good for me at all. Mostly because of the drama and the "constant"ness of it. Congratulations for taking care of yourself!
