Zyprexa isn't working to bring me down. Has anyone tried abilify?

I'm on 15 mg abilify. It helps me a lot without the tiredness or weight gain of Zyprexa. It kicks "strange thoughts" fast my only issue is the tactile hallucinations are back. It seemed to work rather fast for me.

So far it's worked best for me. I was only on 15mgs. Probably for the best since I had to quit cold turkey when I ran out of money to get it. Didn't go through any withdrawal or anything and I might have with a larger dose.

Anti psychotics are a hit a miss deal. Its like a ring of keys, and your brain in like a key hole. You have to find the right one. I tried Abilify and hated it, but I am now on Zyprexa.

I was a mess on Abilify. We called it DisAbilify.

What happened?
I have read bad things on other web sites. |

No seizures, spectacular rashes, or any other interesting side effects, it just didn't work, and that's always bad enough.

It made me worse, like with my hallucinations, and it made me extremely restless and angry to the point I couldn't control myself and ended up throwing things and threatening my family. Went off it and I felt much better. Was on 5mg. But like said before, AP are hit or miss

It helps for my depression and within 2 days at 5 mg it stopped the incessant internal fighting. Whew. I may be a little wired and I get up at 4 or 5 am, which is a couple of hours earlier than usual. I've taken abilify a few times and always get the change in my internal clock. I've never heard anyone else with that side effect.
Hope it works for you. It's pulled me to my feet three times. I think I gained a few pounds, though, (not as much as some others) and I quit, only to start again when I'm desperate. |

I'm bipolar 1 mixed, also.
Abilify sort of slowed me down, but made me jittery at the same time. Very odd state. I wanted to crawl out of my skin, but I sort of just wanted to sit around and drool on myself, too. It did give me blurry vision, which I hated.

I take 30mg of Abilify a day & have had absolutely no problem with the med. It's been far superior to all the other APs I've taken, with relatively few side-effects. The only problem is the cost if you're not insured. I figured it out & it comes out to be $30 a tablet!

I get the same side effect. Completely changed the times I sleep and wake up in the morning. Have had to say goodbye to sleeping in at weekends! Other than that, it seems to be helping. No weight gain. Do feel very restless on it though. |
