Hi
I am on the lookout for books that are fiction/bio/autobios about people with BP. Anyone who has any good recommendations?

Manic by Terri Cheney was a decent read. I've hear "An unquiet Mind" by Kay Redfield Jamison is suppose to be good too.

I read the book by Kay Redfield Jamison. Interesting, and interesting to read a psychiatrist w BP writing about her life. The Terry Cheney book I must check out then. Not heard of it.

I'm currently reading 72 Hour Hold by Bebe Moore Campbell. I really like it so far. It's a novel. I think it's based off of sometimes life though.

Also, of you like Kurt Cobain (Nirvana), some his journals were published. There's a lot of stuff in there I could relate to. He took the words right out of my mouth on a couple entries. There is nothing about treatment or anything though. There is a lot of stuff in there about his life. However, there is a lot in it about his band starting out too.

I think it's just called Journals, and he is the listed author.

A Brilliant Madness by Patty Duke. Excellent book, albeit a little dated.

I just finished "Marbles..." by Ellen Forney. It's a graphic novel. She does the comic "I was Seven in Seventy-five"., so she's exactly my age. It focuses on her resistance to her diagnoses, worrying meds would take away her creativity, taking years to find the right cocktail, all while being an artist. I loved it. It totally resonated with me- we even seem to have hung out at the same bars in Seattle. Not for the ultra-conservative, but for an open-minded person who wants to feel like they're hanging out with a friend, it's amazing.

Danielle Steele's story about her son is interesting...a mother's perspective. I think its called His Bright Light.

Most I know are already mentioned. If you want lighter reading there's Wishful Drinking by Carrie Fisher. I haven't read it but I heard it (the book itself) sort of encapsulated mania. Like many of us Carrie has addiction along with her bipolar.
