Today I'm mentally drained after having a discussion with someone who believes that if I have enough of God that I don't and shouldn't need meds..ugh

((((((Aged))))) I'd be frustrated too. Somehow I talked myself out of believing when I was hypo, and now I just don't. Drives me crazy when people bring it up. My pdoc is religious so we had some issues for a minute.

That person might be one of my family members lol jk...
I grew up in an extreme christian household (at least from the outside but behind closed doors was a different story). Their response to anything especially MI is you're probably not praying enough for it to go away smh. Just one of the many reasons I no longer have a relationship with my parents. Unfortantely you can't change some people's opinions.

Wow, that kinda stuff just irritates me! I'm all for others being religious, but I don't believe that it cures health problems!

Action and faith must be used in the right way. You can't just hope problems away, but then again if you don't believe in yourself at all nothing will ever change. You need both in just the right places.

Yup super irritating. Religious folks cannot be reasoned with because God or Jesus will fix everything. I have nothing against Jesus or God of course but I have been told I'm going to hell for my illness and that I'm possessed by demons so....yeah

Oh boy. Reminds me of possibly the truest quote I've ever read in the history of ever. (Probably misquoting here, but...)
"A scientist will read many books in his life and still believes he has much more to learn. A religious person will read one and believe they know it all." I believe in science and what can be proven to me, I don't care what people chose to believe - each to their own! - but I don't expect them to force their own beliefs upon me. /rant |

I myself am a Christian. However, I believe God works in many different ways, and one of those is through medication.
I'm sorry to all of you who have bad experiences with other Christians who have no idea what they are even talking about. They give the rest of us a bad name.

Quote:
I respect your choice to believe, wether I do or not. And I mean it genuinely, if you feel that faith helps you then more power to you. One of my biggest pet peeves is having faith, god or whatever forced down my throat by those that 'mean well', it's incredibly patronising and in the same way I respect the choices of others to believe, I want my own choice to be understood. Just realised - totally a trigger subject surely? |

Religion obscures some peoples thoughts, while it eases others. It's very odd in that way, but be it as it may you just have to go about what you feel is right. If you feel you need meds then take them. Some may not believe in them, but that person should be more concerned about your well being if they care for you.
