I go into denial when my meds are working (which is not that often, granted) but I seem to get amnesia to all of the suffering and euphoria that I experienced in the past. I figure, I can function, there must be nothing wrong with me. Normal people have problems too, I just have normal people problems.

Yes, it used to be called multiple personalities. There's a lot of variations and degrees of it, but some people share a co-consciousness with an alter. So they are aware of what is going on, but they have wide mood swings, easily distracted, derealization, memory gaps....so on.

You can understand how someone could misdiagnose it as bipolar.
