I don't really believe him when my doc said I am manic. Maybe I am in denial but so what? He said I am experiencing some psychosis and said if the Seroquel doesn't work I'll have to contact the intensive mental health team to come into my house which I don't really want. I am afraid of being judged. I understand that he said he wants me to be safe but I feel safe. He is considering the psychiatric hospital which I don't want. I am irritated, confused I guess. Should I just go with the flow? I just want to be normal...I feel normal but apparently that is just not the case. This has been a really weird day for me. Explaining all my **** to him. I feel like I shouldn't of said anything. But he said that he wants me to be sedated with this Seroquel. 100mg of it. Not bad, eh. But what does all these intrusive thoughts got to do with mania. I just feel like this is normal. It's normal right? I feel like I am wasting the mental health team's time. Meh. Whatever. Hahaha.

When you are manic your thoughts race and that can cause them to be intrusive. Irritablity is a common characterisitc of mania. And it can be hard to know where you are, especially early on. Mania feels good, it can feel normal or like you are having a good day when really you are having a GOOD day.

Until I was hospitalized the first time I lived with a great fear of it and since I've been in there several times I live with a great desire to not go back. So personally I'd try the medication to avoid having that become more of a reality. But that's just me.

Give the medicine a chance, is he titrating you up on the Seroquel? 100 seems like a small dose but I guess it depends on how much psychosis you're experiencing, usually 100 and below for sleep then higher doses for the antipsychotic properties. I started out on 300 but couldn't tolerate it and had an adverse reaction so changed to Zyprexa.

The reason BP is hard to Dx is because when we are up we don't feel like anything is wrong....until the crash or horrible consequences happen. I'd listen to the Pdoc those outside of us are usually better judges of mania than we are.

Seroquel before bed gave me eight hours of precious uninterrupted sleep, at the mere cost of terribly disturbing dreams rendered merely routine by endless repetition. I had to stop taking Seroquel because it didn't agree with a more important cardiac drug, and I miss it. It was a good drug to me. All these meds are different for everyone, so you won't necessarily dream every night about doing my mom.

I took it at 3:30am and it took a while for it to kick it as I have to start on a very small dose then work my way upwards. Taken 50mg. Still had interrupted sleep, waking up almost every hour and wasted the entire day haha. Tonight I take 75mg.

It takes a couple of hours to kick in (that was when it worked normally for me) so take it a while before you want to sleep. I usually take it and then try to stay calm and quiet until it works although that's harder because it now takes a lot longer to work for me for whatever reason. But for many years that 2 hours thing was almost clockwork unless I was manic or mixed.

I took Seroquel at night. It gave me a great night's sleep. Your symptoms do suggest mania to me.

Really? I'm glad you slept well. I always feel groggy as hell for a day or so after taking seroquel.

hey roses,

I am glad you got some additional treatment. Seroquel is a fine medication and it should do precisely what you need, quiet those intrusive negative thoughts and regulate ur sleep cycle. The dosing sounds pretty reasonable too. Good Luck - you've got this!

I don't know what an intensive mental health team is, but it doesn't sound like I'd want them visiting me either.

Getting quality sleep is very important. Even for people who don't have mood issues, if they have terrible sleep the quality of their life really suffers and they can act very strangely.

I hope you have a better response than i did to seroquel, as most of the posters have. When i was on it i got crazier. Three professionals thought I should be diagnosed. What worked for me was getting off it and starting latuda. Latuda saved my life (little exaggeration&#128521. Anyway hope it works for you, and if not you might try something else.

100 mg is pretty low. I think it takes about 4 days to get an even blood level though so you may still be adjusting a bit. It's always hard to know in those situations. I'm pretty amazed you are waking up; I went on Seroquel really slowly, 25 mg increase per week and I know by 100 mg I was pretty heavily sedated until my body adjusted.

I'm sure they'll up your dose. I take 300mg, and it really has made me feel much better.
