Earlier I posted that I was recently put on 600 mgs of Lithium and it was making me miserable. I was feeling lethargic, dizzy, cold, aggressive, cloudy, slow, and completely uninterested in doing anything. I just came off of two back to back manic episodes. I took Lithium 10 years ago and didn't like it, but my new pdoc convinced me to give it another shot. I never do this, but after three days, I quit taking it. I can't stand feeling drugged. I lived like a zombie for years on a high dose of Geodon until I saw my new pdoc and he took me off of it and ever since I have felt like a new person. I am confused and slightly scared. I'm not sure what I am doing....

Yeah gargl, I always say, we are are probably one of the best advocates when it comes to what meds work for us, and what meds don't.
I mean lithium is considered the "gold standard" when it comes to stabilising mood in bipolar - and it works for a lot of people. For me, personally when I was on it? It didn't stabilise my mood at all. I'm on lamotragine now. My mood is far more stable. Hang in there and I hope you are able to find some comfort soon! |

Lithium didn't work for me either, so I got off it fast. It made me so weak, I could barely walk without feeling like I was dying. If you start a med and it's obvious it isn't working (because of horrible/intolerable side effects) I don't think it's bad to stop taking it.
