The combination of aspergers and bipolar is really proving difficult to treat. Part of the problem is finding anyone experienced with both.

I've decided to start looking at what treatment centers are available that could be of help. Specifically ones that offer inpatient or residential programs.

Because of my dual diagnosis, it is extremely important that both issues receive treatment and that the treatments chosen take into account the difficulties that come with both issues.

I'm currently only looking at locations in Canada but am collecting information about international options as well in the event that I don't find a suitable domestic option.

You live in a large metropolitan city and close to US. It would seem you should be able to find a therapist locally. If the diagnosis does not feel right you could get a second opinion before making big changes.

Here are some posts and blogs that might be relevant.

Another way to approach this would be to medicate the most severe or both and work with a therapist on the most severe.

IMO going international might make you vulnerable to questionable therapies. If you can't find something in Canada or US, then maybe another method of treating your situation is called for.

CANDC thanks a ton for digging up those posts. I gave them a read. At this point I'm looking for something a little more, intense, than just a therapist. I've heard a bit about programs that are similar to addiction centers that offer daily therapy and other programs that are helpful. I'm looking for people with experience with these.
