I hope that you are able to find peace.. even if they are brief moments, savor them... try not to focus on the other thoughts and "craziness" that is.... we are not possessed and we are not evil.... we have had evil done to us... but we are survivors and someday we will look back and be grateful that we had the coping skills to survive, so later in life we could thrive and live, hoping for peace to come your way soon

To the OP, No I don't think that Demons exist. I think there is Evil, no doubt about it. My spouse (of 20 years) at times feels that he see's shadows and demons, he has been dx'd with BPD and Paranoia, (we make quite the pair).... Have you talked with your therapist about these fears?
Thanks hun, I've found my peace. We are like all for one, and one for all

Respectfully, people who think demons are inside of them could be showing signs of delusions.

Is that what you are asking?

If you have chosen, for whatever reason not to have a therapist, have you asked your primary care doctor about medicine to help depression? It won't help the dissociation, but does help with depression. I take Viibryd and Welbutrin along with Klonopin when I have a serious anxiety attack (I don't take it as often as I use to)... I hate being on meds, but for now, as I come to terms with why I dissociate and feel the darkness at times, it helps me to cope and deal with what has haunted me my whole life so I can face the future with hope and no longer look back with dread.

Please know I don't think you are possessed, nor do I think there are demons, but I do believe at times the darkness and dissociation can make you feel that way. Sometimes we put off our own negative energy, when we try and suppress and hide from our past.. many times we don't even know we are doing it.

I do know that my horses have such a powerful positive energy that when I am around them, even for a short time, I feel so much more positive.. it is one of the few times I actually feel free and at total peace when I am with them. Animals are loving and very therapeutic. Do you have any animals that help you to feel safe and calm?

Hang in there... life is good and worth living.....
Thanks.

I don't know why I'm having so much dissociation issues as of late, or paranoia and anxiety for that matter. I've always had it. To a small extent, where it didn't bother me. But ever since my psychotic break in january I've been a mess. And I think I'm becoming depressed. Though I'm trying to fight it off.

I take seroquel, lamictal, and clonazepam.

AD's make me manic.

I agree they could be showing signs of delusions, depending on the person, depending on whether they are psychotic or not of course.

I just don't want you to think you are evil or be paranoid. That would seem to be anxiety and Bp talking.
Thanks for this!

I'm certain that was written, tongue in cheek. I've known a few of those myself In all reality though, they weren't devils, or demons, or possessed, but were very wounded individuals.

I think we can also look at demons and possession as metaphors. I'm sure we've all been "possessed by demons" at one point or another in our lives (especially during mania). Does that make sense at all? It really does to me. You know, times that we are just so driven to do things that are bad for us and the people around us but we can't resist for some reason? We all have inner demons.
Thanks for this!

I guess it's nice of them to blame our erratic behavior on a demon instead of saying it's our fault. Trying to cast them out shows how little they understand it though.

Seriously, I think we create our own demons. And they might as well be real. Look in the mirror. There is your demon.

I respect and understand what you're saying and I don't intend to argue. Noted psychologists have used the word 'demon' to describe an inner 'dark' side we supposedly all have, so I understand how it gets spread into the popular vocabulary. I don't believe I have a demon inside me, or that I'm demonic. At times I do have less than healthy ideas that I need to sort through.

I don't think I'm possessed by a demon. I was just having an anxiety/paranoia attack. A real bad one. They happen. Quite frequently for me as of late.

However, when I was a child (say, eleven or so) I remember looking into a mirror and being freaked out because I didn't recognize the eyes staring back at me, like there was something dark inside of me. And this was when I was eleven.

I believe there is evil in the world. But I believe Good and Love are stronger.

I also believe that that evil is not what gets inside of us neuroatypicals when we feel like this. I believe that is the Bipolar.
Thanks for this!
