Still trying to find a pdoc.
My GP referred me to a place that is, thankfully, only twenty minutes away. I called them, and before they can even schedule me an appointment they needed my medical records, so I spent the day going place after place to have my records faxed to them. I had to go to three places. In particular they wanted my discharge summary from when I was in the hospital in january. Why is the records office all the way in the bowels of the hospital?! I thought that was funny for some reason. I'm happy I had my husband and daughter with me or I probably wouldn't have been able to find my way out of the basement. Lol. So, new clinic should be calling me in the next few days. I'm probably just going to call them tomorrow. They should have my records by tomorrow. This whole situation is just ridiculous. ![]() Thanks pnp for leaving me hanging. ![]() I need help now, so I'm hoping they can get me in shortly. And not five months from now. I'm about three steps from an IP stay at the moment. I'm suicidal. Anyone else have to jump through five million hoops before they could get a new pdoc?

When I first realized I was bipolar and my pdoc at the time SUCKED and had spent a year making me worse I tried to get into the hospital where I go now. Top hospital in the world for many things, always good to go to. But they insisted on having records. I did not want to tell the old pdoc I was changing so I didn't want to get the records. My arguments led the triage nurse to suggest I should be in IOP immediately. Which led to my not getting the records. I went to a mood disorder clinic at another hospital in the same city (they are now combined) and was in a clinical trial and then moved to this psychiatrist. When she moved to the first hospital about 4 years later they called to set up my appointment and much to my embarrassment she pulled up the records from that first phone call when I was so belligerent. Oops. But I couldn't change it then.
Not the same but a really embarrassing moment anyway ![]()

Yep hoops! lots of hoops in all different colors !
You did everything you can to speed up the process. Call tomorrow to verify if they received the records . Sometimes records departments require a few days or more to process your request. Did they mention what there policy was? Some hospitals can take up to a week to process an non emergency medical record file request. Hope you have an appointment very soon ![]()
