I've been on this thread for a few months now. I thought I'd share what I've learned so far.
-We're all in the same boat. -Everyone has their own story and we're all unique. -BP can be kind of confusing to nail down. -We can all get better. -We all have our own methods. -Some days are good, others not so much. -We all have triggers we recognize. -There's a lot of positivity here. -Everyone is willing to help. -A lot of people like cats. What have you learned? What goodness can you take away from this? |

I'm more of a wombat guy myself.
![]() Anyway I've learned When it hits the fan take it one day at a time If you can't do that, instead take it one hour at a time and if you can't do that, instead take it one minute at a time I help myself best when I try to help others. |

I have learned that together, we make a difference to each and every one of the BP Members on PsychCentral's lives. We carry one another across the finish line when there just appears to be no end in sight. I am really grateful to be here. Members have helped me in ways they may never ever even realise and in ways I would simply not be able to explain. I'll be forever grateful

I've learned that if you don't fear the disease and work within the limitations it imposes, it will mess you up again and again, and many of your mistakes will not come with second chances.

I've learned to .... just keep learning. To....
...Listen to others with more experience in managing this illness and learn what I can from them. ...Realize that while we all share a ton of commonalities this BP beast is unique to each and every one of us ...that sometimes a "hug" from someone who understands is enough

I've learned that when I go into a nosedive, just go with it and don't fight it. That will make things worse. I've learned these nosedives are like a thunderstorm. They can come on suddenly, last a while, but then they pass.

Living Dead Guy, I couldn't agree more with your statement about helping others. This site *helps* me!
Hooligan, I like your analogy about the finish line.....so true. Lefty, you are correct. There is nothing to fear. LettinGo, I have a problem listening. Thanks for reminding me. Theseus, well said - the nosedives will come and go.....I suppose it is akin to being realistic about who we are. Since I've been here, I've had two or three nosedives and here I was, thinking I was "cured". But I got religion quickly. |

I've learned that I have a history but I am not my history.
I've learned there is always hope. I've learned that a smile can make a world of difference. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I only signed up a few hours ago but I have learned, from reading, that there are so many supportive people here. I look forward to benefiting from that support since I don't get enough from those actually around me.

You're right - things aren't as bad as we think they are. There's goodness in every day whether we find it in our pets, the sunshine, or in our families.
Christina, absolutely! Mindfulness is priceless. It gets me through a lot but I forget it sometimes! Duh. ![]() |

The biggest thing I have learned is that everyone's mania presents itself in different ways. And not all mania is above cloud nine mania. For some people it just sucks.
