Has anyone lost a good amount of weight being bipolar? I know meds can affect your metabolism but I've lost a few pounds mainly by cutting back. Just wondering if anyone has had any success losing a good amount of weight after putting some on and how did you do it?

Check out ketogenic dieting.

Just make sure you really do get your carbs for the day in the form of eating dark leafy vegetable stuffs.

My first round with keto, I was like PFFFFT on the vegetables and just ate lots of fatty meats. Paid dearly for that lol.

I won't sugar coat it (no pun intended heh), the first week or so is always rough for me when I have been eating lots of junk and am trying to go back into keto or at least a whole foods low-carb diet. Frankly I prefer to start out gradual, like still allow myself to have whatever fresh fruits I like, but no other sugars/carbs. Bananas have worked miracles for me in that department. For me it's a hurdle to leap, I don't have any cheats or anything that make it not a bumpy process. I also think it helps a lot to know that it's okay if you goof up now and then, not beat yourself up and just dust yourself off, start fresh the next day.

During my last depression episode (it was about six months long) I lost twenty pounds. I went from 135 to 115. It was great! And after the episode I even managed to keep it off mostly (went up to like 120 or something). Until recently I was on a vegan diet. I ate lots of veggies and fruits and legumes, etc. Now I'm psuedo because I've been eating chocolate and non vegan cookies and stuff, so I've ballooned back up to 135 (****ing seroquel).

I've tried vegan a few times but failed so hard. The way some people are with carbs, I am that way with meat. I am a total carnivore at heart.

Also at first I totally thought this smiley was flipping me the bird lol.

Oh, and (pre seroquel) I was a very energetic and active person, which helped too.

My husband is pretty hardcore vegan. And he only buys organic and GMO free stuff. He cooks around here. I hate cooking. So at least I'm still eating healthy (just that ****ing chocolate is killing me. I mean, there are vegan chocolate bars, but they're way expensive, and the only store that sells them is all the way across town). He's been buying vegan icecream sandwiches lately because it's so hot, and I'm like NO! Don't do that! I will eat them and get fatter! (those are also only sold at the store all the way across town and are really expensive)

Hypermania; if I'm not on a very high dose of seroquel can certainly make me lose weight ..... sure.

Depression, I tend to be less active (so the reverse would apply)
