If you are on geodon, do you split up your dose and take it twice a day, or just the entire dose at night?

My pdoc wants me to take half in the morning and the other half at night, and it's not working for me. And yes, I plan on talking to her about this at our next appointment, which is next week. The past three days I've taken a dose in the morning, and about two hours afterwards I get nauseous, tired, and grumpy, and it lasts about seven to eight hours.

Is there any particular reason why the dose needs to be split up?

(And yes, again, I plan on asking. I was just wondering what you all thought, or have been told.)

I need to be able to function during the day. I work full-time and have a child, and even if the sedation isn't as bad as seroquel, it's still annoying, and it's a grumpy and sick feeling sedation, not a warm and fuzzy and tolerable sedation like seroquel was.

Oh, and I'm kind of scared to ask her about it because she's so intense. She has me taking half my lamictal dose in the morning and the other half at night too, and I've always just taken that all at night. I just don't understand why these things have to be split up. With the lamictal it's not making a difference that I can tell.

I took it a very long time ago but I was allowed to take it all at night for the same reasons. I just didn't get to stay on it long because it caused EPS. So I think I was on it 3 months or something and then had to stop which was fine because I was doing better and was able to manage without an AP for quite a while (a year, maybe 2) after that. I don't think I was on a huge dose because it knocked me out and made work hard.

It's just this sickening sedation that I can't stand! It would be okay if I had time to sleep it off during the day, but I don't.

I know. I don't get why things need to be split up! I don't need to be sedated during the day. Sorry. I'm kind of pissy right now.

I take 80 mg of Geodon in the AM and 240 mg of Geodon at night. I'm so tired all the time so I take Provigil to offset that.
