Something SUPER strange happens.

I hear a door slamming upon waking. It is always right when I wake up out of a dead sleep. It happens no other time. Sometimes I hear keys rattling or footsteps too. Often there is nobody who is actually in the house besides me. So it is certain nobody is leaving or entering the house.

When my sibling lived here I thought it was him. Now I know it's not.

There isn't a chance a thick door could blow open and slam shut when no wind can reach it. And there aren't ever any signs of that having happened.

It doesn't effect me much. It's just awfully weird and slightly concerning since I know it is not real. I usually brush it off. It's so strange.

Does this happen to anyone else? Could it be a bipolar/med related thing or something?

I have woken to a loud "noise" , then hearing the creeks and groans of my house , the sounds outside , the "someone " at the door , the knowing they are in the house , being so scared sleeping with a gun , ... for me it's paranoia ... , lamictal has really helped ...

I get a little paranoid. Even if the sounds are actually real...I have to insure myself by finding the cause of the noise and then I'm good. But still paranoid when I hear it

It sounds like what's called a hypnagogic hallucination which happen upon waking or falling asleep. I was half asleep/awake last night and heard the whole Simpsons theme song play even though there was no tv or anything on. It's nothing to worry about

The upstairs of where I live, doors open and close on their own, both room doors and the crawlspace doors. The crawlspace doors even have latches on them, and one time one of them slammed open so loud I heard it from another room and it about made me jump out of my skin. With the room doors, I just hear the click/latch sound of the door knob/bolt opening and closing.

I'm not really sure what to make of it, because if it's hallucinations, I've never had hallucinations so 'real' before or anywhere else, but of course I'd sound crazy if I chalked it up to a poltergeist or something. So I just remain mentally neutral on it. It has never caused any harm, so I figure oh well.

Are you waking up out of a nightmare? Seriously though have you ever read about "sleep paralysis?" I used to get it before getting on meds that not only help with paranoia but sleep as well.

I have auditory hallucinations from time to time as I fall asleep. Usually an explosion or door slamming. They are very loud inside of my head, but I know they aren't real. I asked my girlfriend and she never hears them, and I know that if she heard an explosion this loud out of a dead silence she would jump out of the bed so fast you wouldn't even know what happened. I hear a lot of noises when I close my eyes. From women singing, to loud noises, to trains...all manner of things. I'm not on any meds currently, though, and I don't remember of they help or not.

I know. A horrid name that makes the thing sound goofy, when really it's very disturbing.

Oh, it's definitely 'on the books'. I've experienced it and it's horrible. I guess it's technically a hallucination, but it's related to sleep. For me it was either stress. a med side-effect, or maybe both.
