My mom thinks I'm not bipolar and just looking for attention. She says she doesn't see anything but the depression. She doesn't understand what hypomanic is and its really annoying. Sometimes my symptoms aren't visible. Why in the world would I want to be bipolar.
I tried to explain to her but I don't think she gets it.

Take her to your doctor's appointment. It works...have a professional explain it to her.

That happens a lot with outside observers. Especially if you don't have full blown mania. Hypomania can mimic just plain happiness to those on the outside. They can't see the racing thoughts or the irritability.
I agree taking her to pdoc might help, if she's willing to go.

It's a hard one for a parent to grasp. My Dad wanted to heal me by prayer group, like it would just go away. There not around me much, but I think it has finally sunk in for my mom. How long have you been diagnosed? I'm sorry she hasn't excepted your diagnosis.
