I'm diagnosed bipolar II. I get these weird tingling sensations in my head, especially when I start feeling upset about something, or even if I think about an unpleasant topic. I am on medication but my pdoc doesn't seem to have anything to say about the tingling. It's really uncomfortable and seems to keep me from thinking clearly, which makes it hard for me to deal with stress constructively. Anyone else have this, or have any ideas of what to do about it? Could it have anything to do with being hypomanic?

Funny you should say that, this happened to me again the other day.. seems to happen when i've got too much on and I'm struggling to deal with it - it's like i'm shivering just under my scalp. is that the same for you?

I've been ignoring it - figure i should either stop smoking or stop drinking coffee and get some real sleep! But, I don't know why it happens.

Keep asking your doctor though, it might be a sign of something..

Thank you for the welcome and the responses!

I don't drink coffee, tea, soda or any caffiene whatsoever. I also don't smoke, so I know this isn't related to those things.... Seems like it happens when I'm dealing with something stressful, even if I don't think I'm feeling stressed about it. However, seems like it started happening after I started taking Lamictol a year ago, but it gets worse when I miss a dose. Could it be medication related?

It is quite noticable.

If it's medication related then deffinately push the subject with your doctor, keep banging on about it till he gets the hint!

take care,

I dont get a tingling sensation, but a sizzling noise and feeling at the base of skull in the back.... have for years... only comes once in a while, no idea why or what .... use to think it had something to do with hunger.... never really associated it wil stress but will have to keep track of it now... it is very annoying when it happens...

Hope you figure it out and find a way to stop the feeling that you get... Good luck!

Hi. I have experienced the EXACT thing since childhood. Tho, now at 59 years old, I space out my meds, instead of taking them closely together.(15 minutes apart) Also,if I drink too much coffee...the feeling AND ear ringing escalate. Hope this helps! dottie
