I know most of us have an issue with sleep but I am having trouble driving lately ... when you spend more time driving than sleeping at night ... well sh** almost happened ... I really must get better sleep before something really bad happens .... that is where I need your help ...

1) I have no issues falling asleep ...

2) i do have an issue staying asleep ...

3) I have an issue with sleep quality ...

4) sleep quantity is app 5 hours total in two sessions

I keep a sleep schedule (mostly) but it really sucks to be in bed by 10pm ...

I try to limit caffine ( at least near bedtime) I know, but need my coffee to function in mornings ...

I sleep in a recliner (can not lay flat) ... but in a darkened room

I usually take benadryl and if necessary (xanex at bedtime if the old brain box won't shut up)

and of course my cpap ....

Again no trouble going to sleep just staying down ... help ...

Suggestions please .... anything that really works for you .

I really do not want "heavy" meds ... when I have used those

before the "hangover" was not worth it ...

Zolpidem does not give me a hangover.

Why do you sleep in an armchair? Sleep apnea?

I take chloral hydrate at night. It's hardly ever prescribed because it comes in liquid form so could be easily overdosed on since it goes straight to your blood stream. If your doc doesn't think you are a danger to yourself I would highly reccomend it. I have no hangover the next day with it too. Best of luck and sweet dreams.

Well in my signature is what I WAS taking, the Hydroxizine, Clonidine, and Trazadone for sleep. Some nights were good, others I would wake up every hour or so. Then I was adding Benadryl and switching it up with melatonin. I had to go back on an AP, so we picked Geodon. But he had to take away the Trazadone, together it messes up your heart rhythm. I think you have been on Geodon in the past, and probably stopped taking it for some reason? I don't know, maybe the meds up top might work for you. I need a horse tranquilizer to sleep, you might be like me.

Everyone I was in the hospital with was really happy with trazodone.

Nothing really works for me without being really strong and having hangover effects.

Have you tried lunesta? It clears your system in like 6 hours so no hangover and it worked for me for a few weeks which is pretty good; even Seroquel doesn't have that effect for that long with dose changes anymore.
