Inspired by the pets thread but for fellow herpers... I didn't want to hijack that thread with this:
Quote:
What do you have? We used to have a reptile room... I got very ill with salmonella/evolution and was too paranoid after that to look after them so we seriously downsized. My fav was our Burm, but we also had 3 Columbian Red tails, two Columbian Rainbows, 2 Coastal Carpets (one half jungle) , a Ball Python, 2 Savannah Monitors, an Asian Water Monitor, 3 Veiled Chameleons, White's tree frogs, a couple of leopard Geckos and a couple of Beardies. After I got sick my hubby downsized and got into colubrids (pine, bull and gopher snakes) which didn't interest me but we had moved to a province that didn't allow boids. Now we have a small dog and cat and I don't want anything big enough to pose a threat in case of an escape. We are down to a little corn that we bred and hatched and recently a baby ball. I would love an Emerald Tree Boa or Green Tree Python in a beautiful display, but not with small animals. Brazilian Rainbows and Blood pythons were on my list too.... You mentioned several reptiles I would not get for sons.
We have had a lot. We have had a rainbow boa- died after vet sitting when we went on vacation. They gave it pnuemonia. Had tegu- got out of enclosure in mid of night and burnt self on heater. Bearded dragon-died of cancer after 6 years. Maybe corn snake eggs-died because house sitter did not rotatate them in incubator. Now we are down to 1 lizard and 5 snakes |
