I usually get paranoid like twice a week. I sometimes think people are following me, going to attack me, and cars driving behind me are going to do something to me. For an example, last night when I was working at a football game I got scared when people were walking next to my bosses truck. I work in a police department by the way. I also heard the football players yelling and screaming and talking and I thought it was associated with me. That's called referential thinking. I don't have referential thinking that much anymore. Anyway, this has led to suicidal thoughts. I get paranoid and sometimes it gets pretty bad. Besides Zyprexa, what medicines do you guys take for paranoia? I'm not bipolar by the way.

Does geodon and ability make your guys' paranoia go away completely? I take 4 mg of risperdal, 32 mg of perphenazine and 80 mg of Latuda. I still get paranoid twice a week. Whenever I get paranoid I get depressed the next day.

I'm on Geodon, but not at the therapeutic dose yet. Not sure yet, but paranoia is part of the reason my pdoc put me on it.

Does it make your paranoia go away completely? I'm trying to find something that makes my paranoia go away completely. As you guys can tell, I'm all ready on 3 anti psychotics and it still happens twice a week. What have your therapists said about coping with paranoia? Anyone else on here take medicine for paranoia? I'm really desperate to find a solution. I've had suicidal thoughts about getting paranoid. My family tells me not to focus on it but they don't go through it. My sister went through paranoia a little bit when she was depressed.

It seems like, in general, anti psychotics seem to work.

Have you tried anxiety meds and PRNs? My paranoia usually comes from my anxiety and even more so if I'm manic. I was put on buspar and it's worked wonders. I also have Ativan to take PRN but I find I'm needing it less because of the buspar.

For the most part the latuda really does help when I start feeling paring id I aware I'm being paranoid and deal with better. I agree with rxqueen, upswings in anxiety can create a bit of paranoia. I take propranolol for the anxiety.

In a way I think a little paranoia is a good thing, out of control it needs meds. I don't fear my paranoia so much any more and oddly I'm less paranoid because of that....I'm not really sure when that changed for me but I hope it changes soon for you.

I'm not sure with the paranoia because I'm not yet at the therapeutic dose. I'm allergic to four APs, but not this one so I'm happy so far about that. I don't go to a therapist, but should be. I can't seem to find a good one here, I have issues with therapists based on some horrible comments made to me when I was a teenager.

Halliebeth87, does Zyprexa make you really tired? I'm curious what side effects you have with it. I heard it makes you hungry. My pdoc said it would make me groggy.

Rxqueen, I take Ativan and it doesn't work go my paranoia. It helps A little bit but it doesn't make it go away. What is buspar?

What does it help you with besides paranoia? And I'm curious how your paranoia was like before you started to take it.

Buspar is an anti anxiety med that's non benzo. It worked for me with no side effects

Umm well they put me on it while I was in mixed episode...

It helps me with irritability some too.

My paranoia would come when I was headed into mania and I thought there were cameras and people watching me..

I'll see it my pdoc can precribe me it. She doesn't like to add medications to my cocktail because I all ready take 5 medicines. 3 anti psychotics for paranoia and other things because my old pdoc thought I was bipolar, a mood stabilizer for depression(1200 mg of trileptal), and 1-2 mg of Ativan for anxiety.

How was your paranoia before you took buspar?

My paranoia was more like anxiety to me. I always thought people were staring or talking about me. I'd think my boyfriend was out cheating just because he missed my call. I'd think about stuff like that and freak out. Now I'm much more chill and I'm actually embarrassed at how I acted in the past.

I think people are going to shoot me, attack me, hurt me, think people are talking about me, staring at me, I get scared about cars driving behind me like I think people in the cars are going to harm me, and I get extremely anxious and scared. They're episodes and I sometimes can't handle them. This is why I am going to this partial hospitalization program in California to get a medicine adjustment and I really hope I can find something that works because I have had lingering suicidal thoughts after it happens. I've thought about jumping in front of a train multiple times. I don't know why I haven't done it. I guess I don't want to die. Paranoia makes me pretty depressed. I worry it's going to happen at work because it's happened at work a couple times. I just want it to go away completely. I'm kinda desperate for it to go away. My pdoc won't give me anymore meds because I'm not stable. I have an appointment on Wednesday for the Php program.
