I am super happy to finally have the motivation to go back to karate! My motivation was gone for a long time and then I got hospitalized and now all my motivation is back and I am super happy! I practiced an hour before it and I have forgotten quite a bit but I will catch up quickly again. I use to be the fastest learner, so I think I can catch up super fast. I am sooooo excited that I had to tell someone! Thanks for reading!

Be careful. I resumed karate and jiujitsu two years ago after a long hiatus and I injured everything at once. I was constantly getting sick from the stream of pathogens tracked into the dojo by the kids' classes. As you get older you are quicker to get hurt and slower to heal.
Thanks for this!

Since I'm still pretty young (18) I was able to get back in it pretty quickly. It feels like I have missed nothing. Everyone is really glad that I am back as well. I am super happy it went really well!

Sorry, I didn't realize that you were so young. I'm 45 and years of training and collegiate competition have ruined my knees, so be aware of the wear and tear you're putting on your joints that you'll have to endure for the rest of your life. I had two arthroscopies and patellar tendon debridement surgery and twenty years later I'm in pain every time I walk uphill or take stairs. I found out talking to a guy in a jiujitsu t-shirt in a line at UPS yesterday that Rener Gracie, from whom I once took private lessons in Torrance and who stacked up my upper spine passing my guard and took me out for three months in 2002, suffered a career-ending back injury, and he was phenomenally talented. A local news correspondent here was a jiujitsu champion but she was taken from the sport by injury. Martial arts are dangerous.

I was out because I had to have surgery done on my hip. I have deformed hips and Martial Arts have not been kind to them, so it was part of the cause of my surgery. I know that it isn't the safest sport, but I have been doing it for many years, I believe I will be coming up to my 8th year. I am in love with it. Thankfully my kind isn't as pushy and as hardcore as some of the others, so I don't have to push myself as hard.
