I took the tests available on the internet and some say I have moderate to severe bipolar, some say I don't have bipolar, some say there's a 50% chance I have bipolar and some say I have mild bipolar. So please help me understand if I do have bipolar because there aren't any good psychologists available here with whom I could consult.
I have quite frequent mood swings. One moment I am feeling sad and the next my mind would tell me to be happy and vice versa. Mainly, whatever I am feeling my mind tells me to feel the opposite. My moods change very frequently and that is why I wondered if I might be bipolar. Even when I was young, suddenly I would start laughing loudly for 10-15 minutes for no reason at all and then suddenly, immediately or not, would start crying uncontrollably. Is this bipolar? If not, can you please suggest what this is? Because I am getting frequent mood shifts. One second I am so angry I might slap someone and next second I feel lovable and friendly to the same person. Please give your opinions. Thanks |

This does not sound like Bipolar to me personally. Anyone else? In Bipolar mood episodes generally last anywhere from one day to months or even years.

I'm sorry that you are experiencing all this.
To tell you the truth, only a certified mental health care provider can diagnose and treat you. The symptoms can be any number of things because MI symptoms overlap, from Bipolar, borderline, skitzoaffective, drug/alcohol abuse, and any number of other disorders or combinations there of. What sticks out of your words is that whatever you are feeling, your mind is "telling" you to feel the opposite...that doesn't happen in bipolar, you either are or aren't. It infers that you hear voices telling you to do something kinda reminds me of skitzophrenia or some psychotic disorder similar in nature which would be treatable with meds. But what do I know...I'm just nutz. I hope that you find your answers and get the help you need. ![]() |

Rapid moods swings like that could be hormonal imbalance or something physical.
and fyi, about 50% of people score on these online tests as having something. So not really a reliable source, eh.

I'm not a mental health professional, but that does not sound like bipolar to me. Moods don't typically fluctuate that quickly. Like someone else said, it's usually days, months, or even years. Even daily is not that common. Maybe look into personality disorders? I hope you find the answers you are looking for.

I would say that what you are experiencing is quite normal for most people in everyday life. I think you maybe wondering about bipolar because its always in the media and a lot of people believe they have it. If you are concerned have a word with your GP just to put your mind at rest.
All the best. Ed

I agree , based on the symptoms your reporting it doesn't really fit with Bipolar but I am no Doctor.
Have you had a physical with blood work done recently? if not , please do , Thyroid and Hormones can cause lots of mood issues. So rule out possible physical problems then look into your mental health. Welcome to PC

From what you describe, your mood shifts are all within the period of one day. Bipolar mood shifts typically last for at least a few days, if not much longer, depending on the person. If I'm not mistaken, it only takes 4 distinct mood shifts per year for a person with bipolar to be considered a "rapid cycler." What you're describing could very well be normal, or something completely different. Just my opinion
