Not sure if the warning is warranted but I wanted to be safe. Anyway, just got a text telling me my second friend in less than a month was attempting to take their life tonight. In both situations I was the last person they contacted before going off. The first situation ended up okay after he stayed at my house for a week and we got him started towards therapy. Tonight...I don't know what's going on or how things will end up. Not sure why I needed to share this here other than I don't know of anyone else that might understand or something. Thanks.

That's hard. I've been there with friends threatening.
Hope things are ok. |

Hope your friend gets some help. It's good that he has you to turn to.

I know how terrifying this feeling is. And I agree: you posted it here because you know we understand and we're here for you.

Just remember that for many people with mental illnesses/disorders, parasuicidal behavior is a massive cry for help - and also a sign that the person is still fighting. If they were at the point of ending their life, they likely would not have contacted you prior and set it up so that they would be rescued. It sounds like they are still putting up a fight and also sending up flares for help in that fight.

They both came to you because they knew you would understand. We can help people in a lot of ways. I know it scared you but you were there for them. You helped them and both will remember that.

Thanks all. Things turned out better than they could have. Cops found her and sent her to the psych ward for 3 days. She wasn't too happy about it, but I think it's better than the alternative if they hadn't found her. Thanks to you guys for the kind words and support. I've been hesitant to post on here much in the past, but this helps me feel more comfortable sharing on here.
