After months of hypo/mania I think I'm getting depressed again. I take no meds at the moment. I had no problem being hypo/manic. But I can't handle depression. I turn suicidal pretty quick and my psychosis becomes a great concern. Can I stop this from happening? I think I might. It's still an early stage. Do you think focusing too much on the disorder makes things worse? That ignoring it can be helpful? Any tricks perhaps?

I think it's impossible to say. Everyone's MI operates a bit differently, different situations will be, well, different. And for different people, even different coping mechanisms will be more or less effective.

In my opinion I think it's good to make a deal with yourself upfront. Like you can try to manage or curb an episode without medication, but you should have a firm list of signs that it's time to get professional help. That way you can try, but know when/if it's time to call it and to then have a plan to follow.

For me personally my signs that it's time to get back on medication are:

- Suicidal or Homicidal Ideation
- Prolonged Sleep-Deprivation
- Psychosis (of any kind or severity level)
- Anxiety Severe Enough To Render Me Incapable Of Everyday Functioning
Thanks for this!

Do the opposite of what your mind and body is telling you to do .. If you want to stay in bed all day? Get up make your bed, Go out, Engage in life.

Kick claw and fight like hell . I have been able numerous times to avoid going to far down. If your trying really hard and you keep losing ground , Certainly see your Pdoc for help.
