My psychiatrist gave me a daily mood chart to fill out but I'm just not sure how to rate my mood-especially on days like today.
I'm HIGHLY agitated..my heart is pounding..my hands are shaky..every noise is so so unbearably loud & intrusive...I just started loosing it cos a guy asked to sit next to me in the coffee shop...I was so irritated by it I just wanted space-the poor guy-he did nothing wrong but I was so angered by it. I can't think my brain is bouncing and my chest is tight. So what is this?? is this hypo mania? But I feel down too...I feel miserable but I feel like I'm moving at a thousand miles per hour. I just don't understand ![]() |

I have this problem with mood charting too. I have never succesfully done it on paper because I never know which end of the spectrum to mark.
I downloaded an app (for Android or iPhone) can iMood Journal. It cost I think $1 or $2 but it is worth it because you can record as many times as you want. So when I was very mixed and had no idea where I was last spring I would just make an entry whenever I felt a significant change or at the 3 times/day that you can have the program remind you to record. you can also make notations about what is going on or how you are feeling with the program although those don't download well and so the only way they were useful was for my therapist to scroll throw them on my phone. I didn't use them long because it didn't seem to help either of us. But being able to document over and over really helped. There's other apps out there and some are free; I tried 4 at the same time and this was the only one that really worked for me (I usually have intense mixed episodes although am now in about 6 months of depression). It sounds like you are having a mixed episode, where you have symptoms of both depression and mania. They are awful and miserable and might be worth a call to your dr to see if any meds can be adjusted so you don't have to keep suffering.

I agree with ablankscript. It does sound like a mixed episode. I am diagnosed with having mixed episodes and my symptoms very much coincide with what you are describing.

I can relate to the irritability. It's awful. It usually only lasts part of a day or a day at most for me, unfortunately I usually crash into depression after it.

It does kind of sound like a mixed state to me as well.
