Hello. I am mainly here for my friend who has BP 1 w psychosis, but I was curious about myself today. So for the past month or so, I have been tracking my mood and it's so weird. It's literally going up and down and up and down. Last year I was put on Zoloft, and I kept telling my pdoc it was making me manic, but I realize now it could have been hypomanic. I went off it because of fatigue-related issues and I don't get that feeling anymore. But I was looking at the mood chart. The scale is -2 to +2. -2 is really low and +2 is really good. The bottom of the graph is -2, and the top is +2. I am unsure if this is just situational, but it looks weird to me. I posted a picture of my mood for the last 2 months or so here: Is this normal mood pattern?Maybe it's just me who feels this. My periods of happiness may have a trend, but I know at times I feel like queen of the world and talk really fast and have ideas about me changing the world, and I usually quit a week or two later at it because of depression. I have had several depressive episodes that are seasonal affected in my opinion (always depressed every winter, my goodness). I would say these hyperactive episodes don't last long, but the depression does. Hyperactive is like a few hours to two days at most. The worst time was when I had like 4 hours of sleep and felt really energetic and whatever. But other than that, I consider myself in a "normal mood" until I fall into depression. It hasn't been bad yet (depression), but I suspect it to be soon. Actually, my depression is mainly winter, but sometimes summer, but that is mainly related to the time I was
Possible trigger:
and I had to be with her everyday for a month after that. So that one is totally situational. I haven't had this "high" yet, but I hope I get it because I actually work and feel happy. If it's really bad, I annoy people and they tell me to calm down and take "a chill pill". I am unsure if this is something to be concerned about because I am just on Lexapro and I'm not hypomanic or anything at the moment. I said I just get mild hyperactive swings but bad depression. I still get "swings", like depression or possible hypomanic on the medication, but I read here people tend to get only hypomanic or manic on an AD. Anyways, should I be concerned in some way? The two month chart seems really extreme from high to low, but some of it may be situational. Anyways, thanks for anyone responding .

Cyclothymia is basically "mild bipolar" from what I know. The mood swings last for shorter periods of time, and are not as severe. I don't know if your chart is "normal" or not because everyone is different, and no chart is going to be typical. The biggest question is: do these mood swings affect your ability to function properly in life?

Doesn't that even have to last a few days? Anyways, the depression does a lot. The hyperactive episodes don't for me, but other people get annoyed at me, so I guess. I can work and do things, but my family isn't really impressed with me because when I am in that state, I giggle at everything, I say stuff in a higher pitched voice quite quickly, my mind is flooding with new ideas and feel super good and productive. That feeling lasts a few hours, but everyone tells me it's super annoying though I don't feel annoyed at all. I just feel really happy. I'll read about cyclothymia. I have heard of it, but not really sure what it is. Thanks for the response .

So generally your hyperactive moods last for a few hours? I think if it's only a few hours, it could just be a regular mood fluctuation. I do believe even non-bipolar people occasionally experience elevated mood where they are more productive and giddy. What is your depression like? You mentioned becoming depressed especially during seasonal changes. That could be a sign of SAD (seasonal affective disorder).

Generally speaking, yes. Apparently they are really annoying to people.

Depression is bad. I may have SAD. I am unsure. I was going to talk to my pdoc, but I didn't have time. We were talking about OCD instead. Like I become very uninterested, really depressed, feelings of worthlessness, eats a lot more, irregular sleeping habits, and some suicidal thinking. I'm fine at the moment. I am always tired though.

I'd say it's a good idea to bring it up to your pdoc if your depression is that severe, when you do get it. I wish you luck.

Could also be BPD (Borderline Personality Disorder) I know people here will tell you you sound mixed Bipolar episode or "rapid cycling" but it is much more likely a personality thing when your mood changes that often up and down

Thanks. I was going to the last I saw her, but we didn't have time because we were talking about OCD, since I wasn't DXed with it, but now I am.

I don't see her until end of February sadly. I need to find a psychologist, but they are expensive and it's been hard lately.

Anyways, thanks for the response Is this normal mood pattern?.

I am thinking it probably is BPD. I have different views, both positive and negative, of people, but want them to stay with me with either view. If someone tries to leave me, I freak. I have done extreme things when someone tried to leave me that I'm not that proud of saying.

But in terms of mood, I am never "high" for long. Very short indeed.

Thanks for the response Is this normal mood pattern?.

It's called "Feeltracker". It's for iOS so I am unsure if thy have it for android. Every time you put your mood, you can (and should) write a journal about the day. Then it tracks what words are often used negative, and ones that are positive. It's quite cool indeed.
