I am a 58 year old school teacher who makes a good middle-class salary. I am stable and am not manic now. That said, I have had an epiphany: I want to get rich. I'd like to make a million dollars. For three reasons.

First, I have a daughter who is homeless and grandchildren who need to go to special private schools (they are five and they can't talk). I need to take care of them, so I need to make some extra money.

Second, I have nothing saved up for retirement. I will have a pension if I can hang in there as a teacher for ten more years, but I don't think I can.

Third, I am bored. I have a good brain on my shoulders, and I think I can do better than I am doing. I'd like something that is stimulating and fun, even if I only do it at night while I keep my very dull day job.

I want to be really successful at something before it is too late. I feel like I have one last shot, but I've got to take it now. I'm tired of limiting myself because of my bipolar disorder.

If you have any thoughts on this, please feel free to share.

Thank you.

WB

I don't have any advice on how to get rich, other than winning the lottery.

But if I were a rich woman I'd go lay in the sun on a beach somewhere and drink sodas and read books. Lol!

you will think me a fool but I also thought about being rich ... but for a completely different reason ... about two weeks ago I found some mv's I feel in love with and it has picked me up from my depression and made me happy for the first time in a very long time ... and I wanted to thank the group by sending them riches ... silly I know , but I felt like they saved me ... now I am trying to just figure out a way to get a message to them , thanking then ... I am also in my 50's but now feel like a teenager again wanting to touch my idols .... feels really weird but good ... (maybe I have hit my second childhood ?) ....

People who get rich (without winning the lottery or inheriting it) get rich by working nonstop all the time. They live and breathe work. There's no magic to it. They also have talent (usually mainly in one area) and focus on that area to the exclusion of everything else in life.

I want to be a millionaire so that I can start an animal rescue. There is not one where I live.

If I could do that, I would feel like I've made a difference

My best advice to you would be to take your educational skills and start a business online. Perhaps teaching at an online university, which you can do in your time away from school. Or, start your own tutoring business
Or even better, create a product such as an ebook in your field.

Online your options and your ability are limitless.

It will probably will take a good chunk of time. One
of my best friends created an online business and worked very hard for two years. After that he was bringing in thousands a month. I think that now he must be making tens of thousands because now he is living in Newport Beach right on the ocean in a 4 bedroom house. M

Hope that helps!

Yes, I've had this thought from time to time. It never amounted to anything. Now it's just too late to worry about it... which is perhaps a bit of a curse... but I think mostly a blessing... Good luck with your dream though!

Find out what you love, that is rewarding, and then work on starting your own business to teach it to others. Some people make thousands of dollars posting videos on YouTube, for the stupidest crap you can imagine. Look into it!

I don't know about the personal goal of getting rich but your grandkids are a different story. I have a friend whos niece has a VERY rare disease. She can't speak, etc. She needed a special school but it was very expensive. They did a GoFundMe page for her schooling. They told the story and what was needed. They received thousands in donations from friends and family. Just a thought.
