Anyone notice how the moon effects your mood cycles? I seem to generally feel pretty good during a full moon, but during new moon I am either depressed or raging. But then again I am still trying to figure out my cycles..I am figuring out that I rapid cycle or experience mixed states...

Anyways, anyone feel there's a correlation between mood and moon?

I can't say that I notice with myself. But I don't pay a lot of attention to the moon other than to think "oh that's pretty" sometimes. I live in a hilly and wooded area where it's not always very visible.

however, when i worked in a couple of long-term psychiatric care facilities we marked the full moon on the calendar and anticipated that things would be wild around that time. And it was, every month. At first I laughed at the superstition but it didn't take long before I believed whole-heartedly. We sent more patients to the hospital for IP treatment during the full moon. Behaviors increased. Agitation increased and patients and staff were attacked more often. People would try to run away/get off their locked units more often. Patients refused meds more often during the full moon. More PRNs were needed. Etc. It was worth a research study but of course I didn't think of that at the time.

It calms me. I see Grandmother Moon out to guide me, watch over me and envelop me in her arms of love. I feel peace and love

I've never really believed it but a long time friend's mother who did not believe in Bipolar Disorder claimed she could trace my behaviors by the cycles of the moon. She always said I was either raging or troubled and deeply weary during the full moon. Sometimes she would call it out and explain to me when she expected my behavior to become more stable. To be honest and I'm not sure how, she was often right.
