So I signed up for a study and today I get lasik for free through a very highly recommended clinic. I didn't realize the stress it is causing until last night I started snapping at everyone and today I snapped at my three year old daughter over shoes. I'm starting to see the huge roll stress plays in this crazy adventure. I don't even feel nervous but obviously I am. I feel so bad when my children are affected. I try to say ok well all I did was pick her up set her down and sternly tell her what she is wearing but it's still abusive in my eyes and an awful thing to do yet I did it. And she accepts it not missing a beat. No matter how well I think I'm doing its really not that good. Anyone else with children have problems and guilt from these things. What do u do to diffuse? What do u do if u don't even know an explosion is coming. Can't wait for this day to be over!

No matter how small, a positive change deserves to be celebrated!

Don't have kids but totally understand about the stress. I think stress affects those of us with BP so much harder than other people. Being aware of it and practicing relaxation techniques can help. I hope the Lasik goes swimmingly. Getting through it will sure relieve your stress.

I've always tried to teach my children self awareness going as far as having my boys write down a safe word on fridge so when they wrestle they each know when to use their safe word before play turns into a fight. It helps them so much. But when being self aware isn't taught young it is very hard to do as an adult. Maybe I need a safe word too! Maybe we all do. It would be so much easier if we could just check out every time we need a time out. But life doesn't run like that so we are forced to conform. I've battled this for a long time but since being diagnosed recently I feel like the elephant in the room all the time and cringe when my husband asks what's wrong and I have no answer then he uses the b word. I say I am not ashamed of who I am but now that I feel labeled which was necessary for much needed treatment. Nothing has changed yet so much has changed inside. Sorry for the rambling it just seems to pour out today.

I bought my husband lasik one Valentine's Day. The gift of sight. I'm scared to have it but my eyesight isn't as poor as his was.
The LASIK was a complete success.
We are rarely sharp with each other. Have a cat and dog but no kids.
So best of luck on the procedure. Let us know how it goes. Relax if you can.

I had Lasik about 15 years ago, and it was the best thing I ever did.
I had no problems, no sandy eyes at all
My tip - use the eyedrops as they tell you to, don't miss doses

Good Luck with Lasik. I would like to have it myself.

Yes, stress sucks. My children and I have some health problems and it takes its toll on me.

All I can recommend is apologizing and attempting to do better. Kids are resilient.

I'm not blind! But when they said the after pain is 12/10 they weren't lying! Though it only lasted 2 hours. I also had an anxiety migraine which didn't help. I couldn't take the Valium they give everyone though. I highly recommend contacting your doc prior to surgery to get an anitanxiety that works good. Feel so much better today except I forgot to take my depakote last night and was a grouch this morning. All is well. Definetly worth the stress! It was wonderful waking up and being able to see my family without having to put glasses or contacts in. Thanks everyone have a wonderful day!
