I'm over trying to find a doctor, I'm over trying to get better, I'm over trying to get my husband to be more supportive, I'm just freaking over it. No matter what I do nothing works, and nothing changes, so why am I bothering?

I'm over it too. Nothing works. ECT didn't even work in the long term this time. I totally relate to giving up. It's so hard to hold on when you feel like crap. Hopefully we can both hold on for awhile longer.

Hey,
Listen never give up...sometimes you'll feel like things are NOT working but they are actually making a difference. I know, especially with bipolar, things can be more sensitive because we are always looking for some sort of emotional connection. Another problem is we are so dependent on others making us feel right that we forget we are ultimately in control. I've been living with bipolar since 2000 and one thing that kept me going is "hope" knowing that a change will come, but I also realized the change I'm looking for doesn't come from anyone except myself. It's all about the way you define the situation which plays a crucial role in your mood. For example, You feel like nothing works, and your relaying on other to tell you that what you are doing actually works or not. However, the thing you should do is instead of waiting for them to give you support or tell you you've done a good job, you should tell yourself... I put a lot of effort when others would have failed I have the power to still try different things when others would have given up Or the fact you haven't given up yet shows you how powerful you are It tool me awhile, but I understood that if you can find a way to take something negative and change it into a positive or pull something positive out of it, you'll be able to elevate your mood or the feeling of hopelessness into something more positive. Here's something else... I use to feel like everyone should help me because I'm bipolar, but the truth is I only stated to feel much better when I became self reliant on my own feelings. I found ways to tackle whatever situation I had to overcome. I know you feel like your done, but the fact you have been at it and keep going is a positive in it's own. |

I finally found someone! I can't get in until Feb. 1st, but I'm just so happy I finally found someone! I'm hoping I can stick to the medication this time. I have a tendency to think I'm better and go off the meds. I hope I'm able to start this year off right, and stay that way.
