Anyone have one of these. In order to keep winter depression at bay and because I will be working 11p-7a for at least a while I am finally getting a light box.
But I am also interested in the sunshine alarm clock. It's like 60$ or so and before I buy it I want to know if its worth it Anyone?

Jacky8807, hello! I know about the SADD lights, i use to have one for reading. For waking up i could sleep so deep through and earthquake. So i bought an old fashioned wind up one with the ringer bells on top. That worked for me. As for the sunshine clock i don't know enough about it. Blessings on your new job... tc

I have one and while I now use it mostly for the dusk feature since I don't have to get up I used it for dawn when I was working. I've had one (several different ones as they tend to break) for probably almost 10 years now and they really, really help me. The dusk feature has always been more helpful to me but that's just b/c falling asleep is so hard for me.
I would recommend reading reviews and getting one that holds up well. It's worth the extra money. I had one for many years that died last summer and I went through 3 cheaper ones before giving up and getting the more expensive one that I had before (which wasn't expensive when I got it). This is what I have: http://www.amazon.com/BioBrite-Pearl...dawn+simulator Anyway, I really do love the thing. It's probably one of my favorite things I have for bipolar. I just hope this one doesn't break for a long, long time (I did break the glass dome one day but that was a freak accident; it never happened with the first one and it's easily replaced, just annoying if it happens which is probably only rarely does given what it took for me to break it).

I'd skip the gimmick-y alarm clock. You can get the 10,000 lux lamp and put it on a wall outlet timer.
They are pricey, but I would say that if you want to spring for a Happy Light, then make sure you spring for one thats backed by studies. This is the one I use. Its very sturdy and I use it as directed everyday. I definately can feel the difference. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ilpage_o00_s00 |

I have one, and while it hasn't cured my depression, it does seem to make getting out of bed/waking up easier in the morning.

Do you mean a Wake-Up Light? I have one, and it makes it easier to get out of bed in the morning. For me, it's the difference between waking up thinking "It's the middle of the night, why is my alarm blaring?" and thinking "Oh no, it's morning."
