I'm was 15 mgs of zyprexa and it has helped me tremendously. But I've also gained a lot of weight. I was in the middle of finding a new pdoc and was sleeping too much so I started decreasing the zyprexa pretty rapidly. That was a horrible idea, I ended up getting really paranoid and scared. So this new pdoc is having me take 10 mgs at night and 2.5 in the day as needed.

Has anyone been able to come off an ap without rebound symptoms?

I went off geodon and seroquel without much trouble. With seroquel they weaned me off of it in eight days while I was in the hospital, down to 25mg, which I'm now stopping. Good luck!

I've been on APs forever for mood stability, never for psychosis because I had never experienced psychosis. I think last May or so I came off of Seroquel because it caused me to be pre-diabetic. I was stable for a few months and then experienced psychosis for the first time. I ended up back on Seroquel, and will be for the rest of my life.

Yeah, in 2011 I experienced psychosis. It also had a ptsd component to it. Didn't sleep or eat for 5 days. Ended up in the hospital for like 2 weeks. They couldn't get me to sleep. I've been on a ap since then but have had a he'll of a time with them. The weight neutral ones have all given me bad akathasia. Ugh!! Zyprexa has been a life saver but I have just kept gaining weight on it....

I'm worried I'm gonna have to be on an ap forever too. Have you had weight gain on the seroquel? and if so how do you deal with it?

I've been on Seroquel three times now. I gained seven pounds this last time, and probably about the same the second time I was on it. Every time I'm on Seroquel I can't lose weight, but as soon as I would come off of it the weight would just fall off. I crave chocolate like mad, so I'm working on that since I realized I had gained seven pounds. I've read that a lot of people gain weight on Seroquel. I wish I could be on another AP, but I'm either allergic or have akathasia, so I guess I'm stuck on this. It's the only med that lets me sleep and have stability.
