My apt is a mess and I have no motivation to clean. I need to bathe and I am so lethargic I can't get off the couch.

What helps you get motivated? I just can't get myself motivated. I'm going grocery shopping tomorrow at 11am so I have to bathe today. Man, what is wrong with me?

I set daily goals for myself-- especially helpful when I have lots of time to kill (i.e weekends)

reward yourself ... for getting up to go to work each morning I treat myself to a muffin and coffee .... it is all I think about lying in bed waiting to rise ... no thoughts of day ... just that muffin and coffee ...

Stinky hugs from one unshowered lady to another lol
I'm so behind on showering but went to work like this anyway. My trick when I get in the shower is I brainwash myself, "oh I love this so much, I'm cleansing my aura, this soap smells so great, what a great invention hot water is..." Yada yada, it does help. In my break from here & a lot of soul searching I see how empathic bipolar people are. We are really subject able to all the pain of humanity, which is beautiful yet tragic for obvious reasons. Being empathic needs extra care & energy cleansing. Water is wonderful for that. We can only do our best in each moment. Taking on everything all at once and we might shut down (I do). Just do what you can, a little at a time. You are beautiful sister getting outdoors helps me too. Even if I can only just sit there, away from electronics & recharge.

I'm day two without a shower, but I have somewhere to go tomorrow so that will easily come to an end. But I struggle with that same problem. It doesn't help that I telework, so it's easy to go days without a shower. My room is a mess, but I just don't feel like clearing it up. I don't really feel depressed, I'm definitely not hypo, I feel as though I'm taking everything day by day. When I was in PHP, I was told that it may not be possible to clean my entire room at once. It can be overwhelming and it will stay that way. Do a little at a time. I did exactly that and I was able to see my floor again . As far as the showering part, it's such a struggle. I have no where to go, so what's the point of cleaning up? Well I bought some new shampoo and conditioner. I was anxious to try and so that helped for a few days (I was exhausted beyond possible today so I didn't). So I guess buying some fun shower accessories, different smelling soaps and shampoos can help to break the cycle by switching it up. I started using my other bathroom for a change of pace too.
But there is nothing wrong with you. We all go through these phases. You're amongst family.

I've undone all the good I did earlier in the week or at least it feels like it. I need to load the dishwasher, wash some dishes, wipe the counters, sweep the floor, put away folded clothes and tackle some clutter that would be nothing if I just could do it. I smell cat pee near the litter pan but can't find it. This pan is new and necessary for my ancient cat's arthritis but it makes a huge mess I need to find a solution for. I still need to scoop litter for today. With the new little pan that's got to be done daily. I took a shower b/c it had been a few days but that's it. I'm hoping tomorrow I feel like doing some things. Today I just didn't.

Thanks everyone. I so appreciate it. I ate and took a little nap. I'm gonna try that blue, and your beautiful too sister. I cancelled on my ride to the grocery store, my sister was taking me but it was way too early. Tomorrow no matter what my goal is to shower, and get the living room clean. Maybe get a little bit of groceries... But if I can do that it's an accomplished....for me at least.
Thanks for this!
