Latuda withdrawal

People, I really hope that those that are about to try Latuda or are on in, have better results than me. As I mentioned I had HORRIBLE akathisia. My pdoc took me off of it yesterday (haven't had my dose since Thursday morning). I felt a little better yesterday, but today my anxiousness is off the chart and I feel shaky (not as bad as Thursday, but worse than yesterday). Do you think it's just withdrawal off of it? Please tell me it is and I'll be back to normal soon! My anxiety is so bad that I have myself worked up that it won't be. I actually had my husband pull over the car so that I could throw up due to my anxiety! If you had this and stopped Latuda due to akathisia, how long did it take for it all to go away? Thanks

Better today. I'm thinking the thoughts of how bad Thursday was and then the withdrawal off Latuda, made yesterday worse than Friday. I'm feeling relatively calmer today. I hope each day gets better. Man, that was a horrible! I haven't been that bad since I was pregnant.

Maybe your pdoc should of weened you down? You're not the first person I've heard this from and that's what keeps me from ever trying it! Even though I've been through many types of withdrawal from my history of substance abuse, I never want to risk starting a med that I might have to stop abruptly. Do you have a PRN for anxiety you can take? Good luck and try to stay comfortable!

Yes, I have Xanax, Propronolol, and Nuerontin! LOL As soon as I feel better, I'll taper off the Propronolol. We are going to start upping the Nuerontin to see if it can replace the Latuda.

Latuda ruined my life for about six months. I was on med leave for two and a half months because of it. My body was not able to metabolize it, even at twenty milligrams. I had been in a mixed episode at that time for three months at that time. I had akathasia really bad. Pdoc put me on congentin and it didn't do anything. I had panic attacks everyday all day long. I was catastrophizing that I was going to lose my job, then lose my house and then my dogs. There was no way that would happen but I would obsess about it and panic. I wanted to die. I was at my pdocs every week. I finally had to go back on Seroquel. I was paranoid for months about losing my job over stupid stuff. Latuda ruined my life. The akathasia went away after a couple of days coming off of Latuda. I'm so sorry you had to go through this.

How long were you on it? Yeah, I was having SERIOUS panic attacks, like off the charts. I was catastrophizing everything I thought about. My husband just kept sitting with me and reassuring me. It was awful!!!! I can't believe it took you 6 months for it to get out of your system. I'm so sorry!

I was on it for I believe four or five weeks, and I only reached 40 mg. It messed my brain up so bad. I had a bag packed for the hospital that sat there for a month. Like you, my husband had to keep talking me out of my irrational thinking. I don't know what I'd do without him, he's the best. We're getting ready to head out the door to go to DBSA, he's so committed.
