When I'm in the First USA I attend every week. I got lucky, the meeting place is walking distance from my house.

We have a great group and some of us eml or meet and become friends.

Ours is pretty formal. Each person gets 6 minutes to talk. And the others give constructive feedback.

I went a few times to NAMI, but the group was really large and not everyone could share.
Thanks for this!

I went to a DBSA meeting a while back and it was really good, but the meeting times and locations around me are not very convenient so I haven't been back since.

keep in mind the meetings are run by volunteers, not professional counselors so don't go looking for advice on medication and treatment options or information on SSDI and things like that.

I've been going for two months now. It's very therapeutic listening to others and being able to relate and helping others. The support from others helps so much. At ours the first hour is about a topic that we discuss, sometimes learning something or sharing experiences. Once a month a psychologist comes in and discusses a topic or she offers input on emails that have been sent to her. The second hour we break up into small groups and we each get a turn talking about what's going on with us and others then offer advice. Also when we break up into small groups there is a group for family support, which has been very helpful for my family. That's how it works at ours.

I'm starting to get out of the house more...this would be a good place to go. Thanks for reminding me of these groups.

I found out the DBSA is in a hospital and you have to go though security and turn in phones.....I'll pass on that one and try the NAMI group.

I go to meetings on a fairly regular basis.
I find it helps to be someplace where people understand.

The NAMI meeting here is tomorrow.
I need to get out of this house. I don't feel good today.
But if I don't feel good tomorrow, I'm going anyway.
