Omg. I wanted to learn more about Invega.
One of the big side effects can be Parkinson Disease.
My moms has had this for 25 years. She's even had brain surgery.
I'm afraid I wouldn't even consider a drug with such severe potential side effects. Yikes.

Its such a difficult decision because do we risk our physical well being for our mental well being. Only you can decide that.

Any atypical or typical AP has the risk of a movement disorder. For me, Invega has improved my quality of life so drastically that I am willing to take the relatively small risk of a movement disorder. I've been on it for nearly two years with no side effects. For you, it may not be worth the risk. But for me, I'm soooooo much better with the Invega. It's incomparable.

you can try this med for a period to see if you like it or not. Like the more instant side-effect. if there is, that you canmake a decision if you don't like the side-effect. If it is bearable, you observe your mood and symptoms. if it makes everything better, it's worth considering it. if it's the same and no changes, then you can rule this med out.

increasing med right now: a downhill slope
Seroquel 200mg
Epilim 300mg
Olanzapine 5mg
Amisulpride 50mg (just started trying this)
Clonazepam 1.5mg
Ativan 1mg (PRN)
Zopiclone (Imovane) 10mg

In psychosis and struggling worse with ED
I skip med because I would rather be psychotic than living in the real sucky world
Who can understand?...

To wildflower ,
What have you been able to do like work, travel, study, that you could not do before the Invega???
I'm glad you don't suffer side effects.

I was unable to work and unable to care for my son properly because I was getting manic and psychotic every couple of weeks. I still struggle (I'm not working right now for instance) because the Invega doesn't help with depression. So I still have a lot of **** going on but I'm not psychotic anymore and haven't been for a long time.

ALL psych drugs have some risk. The choice to take them is unique to the individual.

I haven't noticed a tinge of a side effect on Invega so far. But latuda gave me so bad akathasia that I would move my mouth all weird. And I would slant my mouth. Sometimes, when I'm really relaxed, I still do that. So latuda gave me a permanent side effect. But others have had great success on it...

That's exactly what I'm concerned about w the Invega. Permanent Parkinson's.
