Well I went to work in a fine mood. I was actually chipper. Hoping that today wouldn't turn out to be a bad day...BOY WAS I FREAKING WRONG!!

The day was fine until about 10 am when I ripped my pants right down the butt seam, boxers totally exposed for anyone to see..LUCKILY I'm allowed to wear shorts when I'm not welding and had a pair with me, so I had to take company time to change my pants. ( I don't even think the boss noticed, not saying that makes it ok but anyways...)

Then at 11:45am(my lunch) collections calls me for a bill past due (reguarding an E.R. visit where a doctor said they treated me but never did, i signed myself out and left the hospital after i heard that. STUPID ******* DOCTORS!) but I told the collections agency, "look i just started working again, i was unemployed for 4 months. Ive been laid off 5 times in 2 years and I was trying to do my best with staying on top of bills..." the lady on the other end, bless her heart, understood and got it out of collections and got me BACK on a payment plan for the end of the month. So that turned out alright...

Well all day I was waiting to hear from the Owner of the New Job Offer and I didn't hear a thing all day. Asked my old coworker who got offered a position too (they were looking for 3-4 supervisors) and he said he hadn't heard anything either. I tried getting ahold of my old boss that recommended me and he isn't responding to my msgs...So I don't know whats going on with the New Offer...I hope it didn't fall through the cracks cause I've been talking about it all weekend and now I look stupid....

And the kicker for the day was I was on my way home going over the high rise bridge that I mentioned in previous posts...Well today it just happens that its windier than hell, well at the apex of the bridge(tallest point) a HUGE gust came and blew my $50 hat right off my head and into the river 100ft below...I was PISSED. I still AM pissed about that.

Needless to say, I've been having a really bad terrible day. Nothing has worked out the way I wanted it too...I guess I just have to laugh at the whole day...Freakin ridiculous...

I have to say I'm trying not to laugh about the pants and your hat, but it is kinda funny! Especially the pants part I have a friend who is a big guy (technically obese) and he had his pants split in an airport while he was racing to make a connection...he didn't have any spares with him, so had to make the whole flight that way! No good suggestions about your hat (super glue, maybe? ), but as for the job, at least you haven't been turned down yet, and the other guy didn't hear either, so it wasn't just you...guess that makes it sort of okay for now? It definitely sucks being called by a collections agent (I worked collections for a while and I can tell you that that end sucks just as much!), but it was great that the lady was so understanding.

Glad to know you can laugh about it - but I would suggest you test the seams in your pants before you go to work tomorrow

But see the thing is, I'm a small guy really. I'm 5'7" and only 140lbs...so I think its because they we're old and I bought them at a thrift store maybe? I don't buy new jeans just to ruin em at work! So but yea I don't know how I did that...It was the oddest thing...

Good you can find cause to laugh at the end of so many unexpected and or unpleasant turns in your day. That was nice of the collections lady to find away to take that pressure off. I hope you hear something about the job soon. Tomorrow should be a breeze compared to today.

May I suggest a chin strap for your new hat (thinking like the firemen have). Seems you need to replace that hat every so often since it is safety gear for you, right? Go ahead, pamper yourself. Spring for a new safety hat and coveralls at Grainger every year or two. That way, if your pants split, no one will be the wiser. Anyway, if I can spend $240 getting color, highlights and a facial every 6 months, you definately can justify a trip to Grainger for yourself.
Its hard when we are all wound up with working, paying bills, going to docs, taking meds, making dinner, doing laundry and then getting up to do it all over again, that we HAVE to break the pattern every now and then and do SOMETHING to TAKE CARE of ourselves.

I like PTK's suggestions..practical and beneficial at the same time! Also maybe buy the cheap Walmart jeans; a couple bucks more than a thrift store but not as worn out. I think you've earned a new hat, too..$50 over three years is around $17 per year..I think it's depreciated enough to justify a new one

Have a better day!

I know most people don't, but I boycott Walmart, and anything Walmart related. So no go there...lol. And I do think I've earned a new hat, but I'm broker than hell right now so maybe when I get some money!

Today was better, BUT STILL no word about the new job offer yet. My old boss emailed the owner and he was supposed to get a hold of me sometime. When i'm not sure...So I'm STILL playing the waiting game...

I totally boycott WalMart too. I would go without before I went there to shop for anything ever.

Yuk to waiting hey. I would be anxious too. The thing with waiting is that eventually it ends and you get the news one way or another. I do hope you hear something soon.

OK, not Walmart...we don't even have one here. K-Mart? Target? Amazon.com? I LOVE shopping online!

I don't shop online but we do have 2 kmarts, and like 3-4 targets...so I got that covered. lol. But I still wouldn't buy clothes anywhere but a thrift store for work clothes. I literally come home covered in oil, grease, dust, dirt and everything else dirty. So spending $5 here $5 there for pants every 6months, really ain't that bad. So...But thanks for the support. I think when I do get some money I will go out a get a new "good" outfit, one that I can wear without worrying about getting dirty...lol

Another thought.... came to me at 3 am...

That safety hat and coveralls are safety equipment in your profession so when you get a few extra pennies, spring for it and keep the receipt. Unlike my facials, your expenses are work related and TAX DEDUCTIBLE! BONUS!
