I LOVE the Little House books. Always have, always will. When I'm bad off they are sometimes all I can read. I read them all (I have them in 2 harcovers) 3 times in the hospital although my reading was questionable; I stared at a lot of pages.

About 18 months ago a big book about her original manuscripts and how they became her books. I had to wait on a list even after ordering very early because they sold so many. I read most of it once and then needed to read again to really follow.

And then bipolar took over and the book got too hard. It's been on the shelf with my place marked for well over a year.

Tonight I read it for about 30 minutes. I am so happy about this. Any progress is acceptable progress.

Isn't it great when that happens! I miss reading when I can concentrate. I'm still not able to do non fiction but I'm getting there so I know what you mean.

That is really great news! Reading is such a solace and pleasure and distraction, and much more. After my youngest daughter was born, I couldn't read anything for weeks, then I started reading Agatha Christie sequentially, her stories brought me back that time.

Awesome!
I used to be a huge, fast reader. I devoured books. I read classics to trashy paperbacks. I would check out giant stacks from the public library. Over the years, it has gotten harder and harder to read. To the point where I hadn't finished a book in over 4 years. Around Xmas after I had inpatient and bipolar diagnosis and on lithium for a couple weeks,I got determined to read again. I ran across the hardcover from 1930 Tom Swift and the Big Dirigible in an antiques store. I bought it determined to read it. I finished the last page in January visiting my sister. i always want to remember that profound sense of accomplishment. Since then, I have completed an additional book. I didn't realize how much I missed reading. I am still slow and have trouble concentrating. I would like to read some more classics such as Oscar Wilde, Virginia Wolfe, and Somerset Maugham topping the list. For now, I am sticking to easier reads. Current book is about B-Movies.
Thanks for this!

Me too! I even got to go to PEI and see Green Gables when I was 12. That's the other series I can read when I'm not doing well.
