It's not just swapping between feelings of elation to depression that I suffer from but swings from anxiety to depression. And sometimes I feel both at the same time. I don't need much to trgger me either.

Could a change in meds or a better stabilizer be due? I haven't been dysphoric, agitated, angry since I was put on trileptal. It saved me. As far as the depression, I just started wellbutrin again. I had a problem being on it before but it works well now since I'm on a stabilizer. Hope you find some relief!

I'm in the same boat - it's either one or the other. Beautiful weather, great music, and the knot of anxiety in the pit of my stomach, the agitation of not being able to sit calmly, feeling like the other shoe is going to drop at any minute.

Or the struggle to get out of bed, wanting only to crawl back into the hole and not acknowledge anything in the world, curling in on myself, dealing with the ideation and intrusive thoughts, and giving up on my and the world around me.

Ugh. Sorry you're dealing with this, too - hoping we both get to a more balanced field, and soon.

There's new research that suggests anxiety is a symptom of depression, and researchers are trying to make anxiety one of the criteria for depression.

Sometimes when I'm depressed my mood will flip between sadness and anhedonia... but it's still depression nevertheless. Sometimes when I'm depressed I'll get anxious too

So if you believe the research, then it makes sense your mood is flipping like that.

If you're interested, I can try to dig up the link for the research

I'm having issues finding the research paper, but...

http://www.adaa.org/sites/default/fi...%20overlap.pdf

That chart is pretty neat. It shows the overlap in symptoms between GAD and depression.

I'll see if I can find the paper later tonight... because I *know* I've seen it
Thanks for this!

I seem to either struggle with symptoms of anxiety or depression. I guess depression slows down all your input, so you don't get overwhelmed?

I think anxiety and depression are pretty much a team in screwing with bipolar mood. One is always waiting in the background to jump in or in really fun times they show up to the party as a couple.
Hope u get relief soon!

Now the old king is dead! Long live the king!
One minute I held the key
Next the walls were closed on me
And I discovered that my castles stand
Upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand
