I had my blood drawn Monday and ordered meds Tuesday. I went to get my prescription today and discovered they hadn't gotten my labs. I called my pdoc who hadn't gotten them either. So i called the lab where nobody picked up and then the hospital where someone did. They re-sent the results to my pdoc and 2 hours later I was able to go back to town and get my meds. And for the 2nd month they gave me all the pills. Apparently they don't realize they aren't allowed to do that even though my pdoc said something to them last month.
I'm wondering how long it will take to coordinate everything. I'm already frustrated with the lab taking forever and having trouble hitting my easy veins. This has to get easier or it's going to be a long, long year.

I've worked in drs offices and I can admit that labs very often get tossed aside until the patient themselves call and ask. As far as the lab goes, can you go to a different lab? The pdocs should be giving you a paper that says who to send results too, along with what to draw for. If they aren't then ask them if they have those available. In my experience we almost always used oak wood labs and they were always fast. Like next day fast. And if for some reason we didn't get the fax then there's an 800 number where you can request any labs. I guess it all depends on what lab the office uses, your insurance ECT.

It's not the dr's office. Because these labs are so vital to continuing my meds they prioritize this when it gets there. The order is correct but they keep photocopying a copy and they need to stop that and photocopy the original. A lot of it is where I live; there is only one place to get labs here and they aren't the most reliable. But that's what happens living in the middle of nowhere. This is just a CBC with diff and so should be to my dr within a few hours. 4 days is ridiculous. But that's the way it goes.

Yeah that sucks that you don't have more options out your way! At least some better phlebotomist to get a vein. I go to a specific place by me and the girl there is awesome. But now my pdoc hired their own phlebotomist so it's easy. However my last labs came back pretty messed up. And even after seeing the nurse, and having another appointment, they didn't even call or tell me... They friggin mailed it to me! Thanks! And yea days for a CBC with diff is insane. Hopefully that lab can upgrade their equipment and staff soon or your in for a helluva year! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
