Has anyone tried Latuda? How did you like it? I'm currently on 300mg of Lamictal and now take 20mg of Latuda at night. This is my first day taking it so I haven't had any time to adjust. Just curious about others' experience with it

I'm not on it but it's one of the ones I've been curious about for a new sleep AP. So I'm curious as to how you like it as well as others. Let us know if you sleep well.

I will def let you know! My doc added it because the Lamictal alone just wasn't cutting it. My manic episodes were lasting way too long. In a week I'll bump up the dosage to 40mg a day

Lamictal made me dysphoric every time I tapered up. I was baaddd. Picked a fight with everyone and said a lot of horrible embarrassing stuff. Then sat on my bed the whole day because I was annoyed by any person that even came into view. I quit it asap. That was the worst dysphoria I've ever had. If you ever need suggestions, I was put on trileptal and haven't had dysphoria or a mixed state since! Now I just need a new AP. I'm thinking Latuda or geodon. I'm nervouse because they are 2nd gen APs. I usually stick to old stuff.

Latuda works well for me. I've been on 20mg for about 9 months or so. It's really helped with depression and with sleep.

The first month on it was crazy though. It made me hypo for like a week then super irritable for 2 weeks. I almost quit it. Glad I hung in though because it works well for me.

It is supposed to be taken with at least a 350 calorie meal, which can sometimes be a pain. Also, you can't eat/drink grapefruit.

It can cause restlessness or restless legs. Many people here have quit it because of that. I get a little restless leg thing sometimes, but I find I'm ok if I take it a little closer to bed. If you get this real bad, make sure you tell your pdoc. I think many people get akathisia.

I'm currently tapering off Latuda, but I was on it for almost a year. It's a great med, and the only reason I'm coming off it is that 40mg was no longer doing the trick, and I had too many adverse reactions to any dose higher than that. But it has a low side effect profile, I find it sedating (at 40mg) and it worked well until I hit a major mood switch.

I was on latuda for about 2 months, it was the first BP medication I tried. I think I was on 50-75mg daily for it. Personally, it did not work very well, I think partially because I was already in a borderline hypomanic/manic state when I started taking it. I eventually switched to lamictal (which didn't work either for me) and ultimately switched over to lithium earlier this year.

I'm taking it and up to 120 mg a day, I take it at bedtime and I'm out within a half hour. Just went to this new dose and hoping it finally curbs my depression, I do seem to be feeling better. I'm also on trileptal and Busbar 3x a day. I had the restlessness but it passed

I was prescribed it about a month or so back because my psychosis & manic episodes were rapidly getting worse, straight up i was put on 120mg a day & couldnt handle it, especially at work. I could not stop stamping my feet or being fidgety, i was very confused all the time, had a rash that was on both arms & my chest which i scratched til it bled & my eyes kept going out of focus, i stopped it immediately, these symptoms showed up straight away and i was on it for maybe 3-4 days.

So I've been taking it for about a week and half now and I've noticed it's helped. My episodes haven't lasted as long as they normally do so far. Usually I would cycle back and forth quickly and sometimes each episode would last for days. I started at 20mg a day and now I'm at 40mg a day and I take it at night. So far so good

I'm glad it worked for you and you didn't give up on it!

I actually had no idea about the grapefruit/grapefruit juice so I'm glad you said it. Which is a bummer because I love grapefruit. Oh well. I'd much rather give it up and have a medication that helps.

I haven't experienced any negative symptoms thankfully! I take mine close to bedtime as well

Oh no. It's too bad you can't tolerate a higher dosage. Do you know what caused the mood switch? If you don't mind me asking. I'm at 40mg a day and this is day 2 for that, I was on 20mg daily for a week. I'm hoping I don't have any reactions to it because I'm liking it so far

Ah ok. Lithium was awesome with controlling my moods but I was a complete zombie while taking it. My dosage was 1200mg (4 300mg tablets) a day because anything lower just didn't even begin to touch my episodes. But it worked so well because I didn't want to do anything but sleep. While on it my friends noticed a major change and often commented on how tired I looked. So then I got switched to Lamictal and we steadily increased my dosage from 100mg to 300mg daily while taking 300mg of Lithium at night. That still didn't stabilize my moods so the doc stopped the Lithium and added Latuda.

So we've been on the same medication just in a different order

It's good that it's making you feel better already. That gives me hope. I think I'm feeling a bit better being at 40mg but I have a feeling we'll probably take it a little higher. We've had trouble keeping my moods stabilized so I'm seriously hoping this does the trick because I'm on travel restrictions until I'm stable. I'm ready to take my life back

How long have you been on all of your medications?

I was on 40mg for several months, but it stopped working and I fell into a nasty depression in January this year. Then when my pdoc upped my dose to 60mg, it made me feel really sleepy. So I'm actually going to wean off it once I get to a therapeutic dose of Lamictal.

It was nice while it worked, but it was short lived. Maybe it'll work out for you better than it worked out for me.

I've been in the trileptal since last April and just started the Busbar last month, started the Latuda in Sept or Oct and have had to keep increasing, was actually just starting to think I needed to try something else and suddenly am feeling like my old self, it was hard sticking it out though depression was really bad

Ah. I wish you'd had better luck with it. I was taking abilify prior to this (sample packs) but my old insurance wouldn't approve it. I'm hoping my new insurance will approve the Latuda because I'm loving it so far

I see. I had a terrible episode when I went out of town prior to starting the Latuda so I'm hoping I have the same luck as you

Latuda is helping me a lot. I take 80 mg every night and I've noticed a huge change. I was very depressed and I feel better now. I take wellbutrin and lamictal too.
