The title says it all.
![]() I prefer "light" threads. Basically, fun threads that don't require much thought. (That's why I post a lot of them. lol) However, I don't mind posting advice for people who are asking for it. I tend to stay away from threads that I can't relate to. I don't want to give bad advice if I don't know what I'm doing |

Really, the only threads I will all-out avoid are those regarding romantic relationships or sex. I've never felt romantic or sexual desire, so I can't imagine I would be very helpful.

I prefer threads that are easy to understand, so I try to abide by that rule when making threads myself.
(Ok, smilies are in short supply and really not necessary here).

I tend to try to stay away from threads that are very depressing. Basically ones that are more about the pity party than they are about depressed symptoms and how to overcome them.
I have to be careful about exposing myself to negativity, because I will go there myself if I don't make a point to stay in my left brain. I have gone away from this forum before because of this. But since I've been back starting yesterday, everyone here seems to be trying to make the best of their situations. It's been really encouraging, and I hope to stay around for a while.

I'll read just about anything right now. Replying is a different matter entirely and my reasons for such can be varied based on mood, experience, paranoia, etc.

I actually prefer a mix of everything. I do have a hard time reading long posts though (sorry!) Mostly, I post on the ones that are a little lighter. Many of the other ones I do read but just might not have any advice to give. Sometimes I'll post hugs. Some of my favorite threads are the ones that have little to do with bipolar. Sometimes it's just fun to hang out in cyber world with ya'll.

I read lots of different threads but only reply to those that I feel I can make a positive response to.
I stay away from threads that I can't relate to or have no experience with. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

i enjoy posting in the check in threads (and get annoyed sometimes they arn't at the top as a sticky!). important stuff
i also like survey type threads, or threads where you have to talk about something positive you've done, or name something good about your day, etc. i like threads where you can post about your own experiences (for example someone might ask, what's your experience with this?) also i'll participate in a thread if i can relate to what's being discussed (i like them if they offer advice and tips to help you cope with what ever it is) i stay away from romantic threads, as i have no dating/ love experience also the threads where the original poster created the thread so they can just update on you on what's going on with that situation (so someone might say i'm having a problem, i'll use this thread to update you on how it's going), i stay away from those threads because their's only so much you can say- it's not really a conversation (can't think of any other way to describe it) and any thread that's not a check in thread, but is still pages and pages long (game threads are okay) but i'm talking a thread about an issue that goes on for about 50 or 60 pages.. you just lose track eventually check in threads are okay. you can just jump in when you've something to say |

I suffer from unipolar depression, but I rarely visit the Depression forum because.. guess what.. it's too depressing. I visit you guys (the Bipolar forum) because it can be about depression, but usually without the.. depressiness. Not sure if I am being clear.

![]() I used to browse the depression forum on reddit (https://www.reddit.com/r/depression), but all the posts there are horribly depressing, so I know exactly what you mean. It's kind of triggering, and it gets exhausting after a while. |

I stay up late... Usually after this place has lost its heartbeat and I'll read it all! However I don't respond to all especially if it's rambling that makes no sense to warrant a sensible answer. Yet at the same time it's still entertaining and I probably have an idea what side of the spectrum that person is on. I usually respond where it's helpful and I have experience about.

On this board, this thread and Women's issues.
I try to stay off of the Relationships boards because the trouble that people are having with their SOs depresses me if I read it enough. I had to step away from another board that I was on because there were a bunch of guys that had really crappy attitudes toward women. If I read it enough I start to think that all guys are that way. There was one thread where the topic was whether or not you would date a bipolar woman. The consensus was "No, they are all crazy; better off to just sleep with them and get rid of them." Needless to say, I wasn't cool with that. I also need to stay away from anything that has to do with politics or economics. There are way too many people out there that have no empathy for people going through tough times. |

This might be an unpopular opinion, but I try hard to stay away from any of the "psychotherapy" sub-forum posts. I get really frustrated by the way some people obsess more about their therapist than about their issues.
I say this because I used to eat that stuff up. I WAS that person, and while it was easy to obsess about, it really messed me up. I spent so much energy thinking about my T than focusing on how we could progress. |

I like all the threads.
Some of the PDs are interesting to read about, but I don't comment that often on those boards since I am not diagnosed with a PD. There are a few users who I don't respond to so often, because i feel we are mismatched in our opinions. |

Thought I would elaborate. When I first came here the PTSD and dissociative symptoms along with the depression were the biggest problems so I preferred those threads. Now that the PTSD is resolved I'm trying to get the BP under control so I prefer the BP and lighter threads like the general, other MI and games. Allways been interested in current affairs so that one stained consistent.
