I've had a few days of this squirmy feeling that's made me decide I need to come off my meds and change my hairstyle. For me those are signs of impending mania, but I don't feel especially manic, just squirrelly and a little irritable. I also know that going off my meds cold turkey would almost certainly be disastrous---it took years and a lot of medication adjustments to get stable---but part of me wants desperately to pretend I don't even have bipolar. WTF is wrong with me? Isn't stability enough? Sheesh!

No. Sometimes it feels like stability isn't enough. I have been stable for almost a year.Sometimes it is hard to handle in a "boring" way.

But stable is good for us!

Ah yes hair changes for me are synonymous with some kind of mood state ... if you do change, hope it goes well Otherwise hang with the meds that keep you stable

My hair changes everytime i get manic. I get the same thoughts youre having.

I decided this time to buy colored clip in extensions. Super cheap, look good and satisfied my manic urge. Next time i think ill get a wig.

Stay on the meds AND get a new hairstyle. You can do both.

Sorry you are feeling squirrels though. That sucks My old friend Linda used to say squirrelly all the time. I miss her and wish she were still here.

(((Hugs)))

I'm pretty much over it. I floated a trial balloon about stopping meds both at home and on my blog, and the disapproval was overwhelming. I also remembered how I felt the time I neglected to take my APs---next day I pretty much experienced the entire bipolar spectrum. I don't ever want to feel that way again, so I don't know what got into me this time. I've been at least a little hypomanic since late February, maybe this was mania knocking at my door. Whatever the reason, the urge to experiment is less and I don't really even want to mess with my hair anymore.
