Hitting mania and it's a bad night. Seeing crap that isn't there the machine behind me keeps whispering and I know it's all in my freaking head. I'm locked in a building by myself. Any voices I hear just can't be there it's not logical. Seeing people walking around again not logical because I'm alone and I know this but it pisses me off to no end because I can't make it stop and knowing it's not real doesn't make it any less annoying.

At least i can keep centered enough to ignore it because logic dictates taht if I'm here alone no one is screwing with me I didn't lock anyone in with me so it's just in my head damn the faulty wiring I was born with

I know it can't be real but then part of the brain is like but you hear it don't you? you're seeing it don't you? and then logic kicks in and it's just a bad night and I'm rambling because it's keeping my attention here and not on what's around me

how do other peopel here deal with this crap?

In the past, I had some experiences like this...well, for several years....I used to do things like put music on (I would hear it so I would make sure it WAS real), and use other kinds of stimuli to either distract or 'replace' (for a time) the unreal...
((((((((((((((((((hugs)))) Middle of the night...when I was young I used to ride my bicycle at night, for some reason I found the empty streets whizzing along soothing.

Hi there,

You're doing a good job of what I call "reality testing"...you're safe, doors are locked, etc.

Do you have an antipsychotic you take? Geodon combats mania and psychosis for me, plus it helps me sleep. I also take Klonopin, a benzo.

Turning on all the lights helps me, sometimes.

How are you doing now? Did you sleep?
Thanks for this!

I take a Klonopin when that happens and try to sleep it off.

Sorry that you're going through a rough time. At least you're keeping yourself grounded in reality. I really don't have anything to offer but I do hope you recover soon.
Thanks for this!

I'm on Abilify and it helps but right now I'm out and can't get to the pharmacy until Thursday. I've never let them prescribe a benzo to me so I don't know if it would help. To tell the truth they scare the hell outta me because I've had so many friends and family that were addicted and went through hell getting off them.

Once I got off work(I explained to my boss what was going on and she let me leave as soon as she got here) I went home took some sleeping pills and conked out for the rest of the day. Hopefully tonight is easier. It doesn't appear it's going to be but what can you do but ride it out and try to stay grounded? Just sucks working when it happens if I were at home i could still be sleeping thought about calling off but meh we're so short staffed it isn't funny.
