I have a job interview next Tues at 10:30am it's an hour and I also have to do a written piece too. I applied months ago but thought I never got through.

Problem...... I have the shakes (side effects) and especially when under pressure my handwriting can become difficult to read. I'm stressing slightly over this.

This is the 3rd interview I will have had. It's as an Community Living Assistant kinda like a carer working in other people's homes. I use to be a Key Worker working with men who have Autism. So I kinda know the job already. I'm still nervous though

Well, my life can be in shambles, but my pdoc calls me his success story bc I'm really good at keeping jobs. I would say in the week leading up, write yourself a page of professional accomplishments. This will 1- give yourself talking points, 2- eliminate some of the pressure 3- train your handwriting. As for the shakes, more people have than than you think. And it is what it is. Perhaps rest one hand over the other demurely? Not sure, new territory for me. I hope others have suggestions there. Oh! No coffee, no sugar! Only whole grains in the sugar department! (I'm year 4 studying to be an RD).

Go get them! Just keep as calm as you can during the interview and you'll do well.... as you said, it's the 3rd interview... they obviously are interested.

I know this is gonna sound kind of weird, but I find it helps to talk to myself whenever I prepare for an interview. Basically, I imagine what the interviewer is going to ask me, then I answer the question out loud.

The idea is this:
A lot of times, we have good ideas or we think we know what we're going to say, but then when we actually say them out loud, we realize that we could word them a lot better. So, by practicing what you're going to say, it helps you learn how to speak concisely, as a lot of us are prone to rambling. It also helps boost your confidence.

Best of luck!

Best of luck. Keep us posted. I wish I had tips for the shakes. I wonder if they'd let you type your written piece? I have trouble holding a pencil and find writing painful. I would need to type it. I wonder if you told them you think better when typing if they'd allow you to type the written part?
Thanks for this!

You know what I was just thinking...when I went in for my interview for my current job, I had a horrible cold. The ride there was exhausting. But once I was in that room I felt fine. No nose running, sniffles, sneezes, none of that. I guess that is how bad I wanted the job. I was praying like crazy for the interview to go well and that I got the job. You never know!

Thank you guys! I'm sure my anxieties will get higher as the week goes on but I'm going to check out where the interview is being held in the next few days so I'm not panicking lol. I have my outfit sorted and I have been reading up on the organisation

Good luck with the interview!

Don't worry too much about the shakes, they'll probably just attribute it to interview nerves

I used to have tremors on lithium which was noticeable to others. I just used to blame caffeine

All the preparation you do will help your focus. It sounds like they like you because it's the 3rd interview. About shaking, hopefully the interview committee is sensitive to side effects. Good luck!!!

Good luck to you! I'm in the process of interviewing as well. I have my second interview/demo lesson (teaching) on Wednesday. I'm getting more nervous as time goes on. But I always just say I'll be disappointed if I don't get the job but it is what it is. I will find a new job someday.

Don't worry too much about the shakes. It's none of their business where it comes from. Just try to write slowly so you can concentrate more on neatness.

Good luck!!

I'm sorry.

Please don't be angry with yourself. Sometimes these things are out of your control. I'm sure you did a great job at your interview, but maybe (for example) they preferred another candidate because they're a relative or something. So in that case, it's not your fault at all and you shouldn't be angry with yourself. In my opinion, sometimes these things are rigged.

I'm so sorry! Right now I'm looking for a 2nd part-time job, and I've gotten many no thank yous or silence. It sounds like the agency you interviewed at are on a shoestring budget, and want a volunteer, not paid staff! So frustrating that they wasted your time. Are there other companies in your area that hire home caregivers? I hope your next prospect ends with a good job.
