Yes. This is what she told me today. She has given up on me and no longer wants to try. Problems with my "case" include the fact that she and my neurologist do not communicate although I've signed the necessary releases. I see a neurologist due to encepholopathy, myoclonus, severe chronic migraines and still trying to determine the exact nature of some other symptoms.
So she hasn't even referred me to anyone else I'm just here, and with my insurance and the limitations of my geography I'm screwed if I want psych meds. Am I rightfully upset or is this normal for a psychiatric nurse to do? |

Hello Spaceyspace: Well... I don't know if it's normal or not. But... hey... at least she's honest! There are too many of these people who will gladly take your money whether they can do anything for you or not!
![]() ![]() I doubt that it is unusual for a neurologist not to communicate. Those folks tend to be extremely busy, plus they tend to think of themselves as being too important to be bothered with such things. At least this has been my experience. It is unfortunate your NP did not refer you on. But I'm not really surprised by this either. It's amazing to me that this happens but it does... all too often I think. It is possible, I suppose, she simply doesn't know who to refer you to. I apologize for not being more positive about this. But, from my experience, it just seems pretty-much par for the course... I wish you well... ![]()

Psychiatric nurses are limited in what they know. Can you find a psychiatrist?

Do you have to have a referral? Could you google therapists in your town who accept your insurance? I just lost my therapist because she had to suddenly end her practice due to illness, I was starting to feel more concerned every day so I did a search & found someone who appears to match my needs, I called her, we spoke & agreed to make an appointment & tomorrow when I see my Medical Dr. Who prescribes my medication, I will be sure to tell her, if she does not already know. I live in a mid sized city but I have Medicare & Gap ins., so I was somewhat limited in my search. It's a scary feeling to be on my own, so I am relieved now I could concentrate on trying to look at possible therapists who accept Medicare. Your medication seems to be at risk, I will hope you have or will be able to find an agency or search yourself for a different therapist & maybe think of someone who might be able to connect you with a list of names. I am sure sorry & I feel for you. Hoping you can get in touch with some type of resource to help you. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |
