My spouse will meet my new psychiatrist because he sees issues that I don't. He's my advocate when I'm in the dark. Ie. when everyone / thing is aggravating me and I think it's them but it's really just me.

My wife goes into my appts with me unless I ask her not to come in. She respects my decision and we leave it at that. I prefer to have her there with me because she can give an outsider's prospective and give an honest description of what she see's or doesn't see. It's different when it's coming from me because I don't always see the mood changes until it's too late, if at all.

there have been times when my husband has threatened to call my doctor because he sees some hypomania but I usually talk him out of it and then the symptoms improve on their own. I'm afraid he will call wolf to my doctor too much if he knows him.

does any spouse do that?

My spouse doesn't. He'll make sure to go to my next appointment and tell him/her everything that happens. He has called when I was to afraid and he has talked me into calling but called on his own no. I'm always right beside him.

My husband doesn't call but he goes to every appointment I go to. He sees things I don't and remembers things I forget. For me it's been beneficial but everybody is different.

My doctor and spouse have met once. My spouse can call my doctor if there's an emergency; yet, has never had reason to call. My doctor can listen to my spouse; yet, cannot break confidentiality by disclosing to my spouse.

My spouse trusts me to handle my life. If my spouse has concerns, we talk. if my spouse feels I need to call/see my pdoc, he tells me and I keep my spouse in the loop.

My spouse also sees a pdoc. We have an understanding and keep one another in the loop, while also giving one another lots of space to honor confidentiality.
