Quote:
It's just mostly young people, probably. More, relative speaking, than before (even). Holding a referendum shouldn't have been necessary. Parliamentary democracy should have been democratic enough. It isn't because there is no proportional representation of the people's wishes or choices. Young people are underrepresented. But this referendum had proportional representation. If people don't vote, they really only have themselves to blame.

But let's redo the Euro 2016 football match between Iceland and England.
There's probably already a petition.

Granted. It's mostly the millenians.
And the opposition party backing down from the promises they made. Agreed so far?. In as much as I like the Britts and your phrases, like "bash it!" that I frecuently use, My main concern is the Ole US of A. Someone, at some point, was gullible enough to bite the bait of lies and enuendo. Either they hid information, or created false information. Sound familiar enough with your cousin trumpet?. The referendum will not be repeated. By the same token, once we vote for the wrong candidate, we can scream our asses out and the election will not be repeated either. Sorry Charlie, you're a member of piri's church. Pay the price.

There's a problem if there is an imbalance in views in some area. It's difficult to keep a minority view. How your democracy works can make that worse: you may lose your vote. In the US that's also the case.
Facts themselves don't really matter in politics. People realise that. Basic assumptions, fear and experience do. But for some facts are more important than for others. That's just their basic attitude: it's all about facts. But most people don't decide based on facts. Also because they have the experience to know facts don't matter much. That's fine. Not great, but fine. Facts can easily be used for manipulation, (partly) because some, mostly younger, people think they cannot be used for manipulation. Fear can be a real problem. Promises as well. And the ability to ignore opposing views. But the beauty of poltics and the reason for this thread is that it's very much like psychosis. That's one of the (many) reasons we could be good politicians. We know how to deal with the reality distortions of politics.

I missed your reply, but I'm savoring it now.
Probably we will not be in agreeance so totally in the future. However in this matter, we think very much alike. Hoping this thread reaches many people in the US and good luck to the people of England.
